The more you read about a natural reef having about 10 water changes
per day with food flushed in and out.

And reading about external over flows and different and different design
overflow boxes on Anthony Calfo's all things salty forum..Now just all things salty ..And Agu sent a sight about a guy sand blasting holes in 2000.

My pont is you go to a store and see regular twin and single overflow boxes
that empty into a sump..Good design, yes..works, yes..

But does it force you into a gadget filled tank??
will we see different desigs in stores?? or more model T's

Am I ready for a change ??no But alot of people at the last meeting were thing about new setups..I like the twin bag peremiter loop I have now..

I missed the meating in Pt Charlotte with no water below the tank?

So what am I saying, alot of info on R/C gives you ideas galore..
I'm not so sure we will see these designs in the local store..
But I bet they can be ordered..

Multi-Striped,

What is your twin bag perimeter loop? Is it a closed loop system that uses a mechanical filter? Or something else.

I agree with you the hobbiest does much better at new things then the many of the commerical companies. However, there are some companies that have many products that require no sumps. Tunzee is one of them. Look through their catalog. They have many items that drop right into the main tank with no sump. Like Skimmers, filters, and even a water top off.

But I do like the boards for new ideas.

Cheers,
Chris

Yes Chris
The perimeter loop was taken from the All things salty with Anthony Calfo
forum..Now just all things salty...Anthony is now on another site..
you should be able to search "peremiter loop" or "get rid of the power heads"

You can run a closed loop..I have a motor off the sump ..running
i.5in pipe up to the top of the tank and around the edge under the hood
with tees to lock line then you can adjust flow in your tank as needed...
size of your tank and flow required will decide your motor size and
how much your overflows can take the extra water ..I turned everything in over flows to a drain..witch empties into one of John at Fish and other...
in Oldsmar sumps with twin bags Call John he can help you with the bags and sump and pumps etc 813 891 4291.. I still have my tunze ..but the idea is to keep stuff out of the diaplay..change your bags daily..

Tunze makes great stuff... the idea is to see corals ,fish etc not equipment

Multi Stripped,

I agree it is nice to get all of the equipment hidden or out of the display tank.

Do you like your perimeter loop? Would you do it again? I think I am going to use one on my next set-up. I currently use power heads, but I don't like them in my display.

Cheers,
Chris

Yes I like it ..Yes I would do it again...I still have a Tunze in the tank
I like to have movement after feeding the fish, for corals without stuff getting
stuck in bags...Whatever size your next set up.... think about keeping
your out going pipe size as large as you can as long as you can..for the size pump you will need don't forget to figure you loss with 90's etc and height
etc...I think they make 1" lock line now... if you get a tank made think about larger drain holes
