If I bought fresh live clams at safeway and put the in my tank will they survive till my puffer gets them?

Cracking them open a little ways first is what I do, then drop them into the tank, the little puff-monster makes sure there is never anything left to 'go bad'.:D

I don't think it matters, they should grub on it pretty quick, just remove what they don't finish.
Have you guys been doing this for a long period of time?
I used to do this, but the clams brought a parasight into my tank. Therefore, I have been boiling both clams and mussels before I put them in my tank. I also boil a big bunch of them and then put them in the fridge in a ice tray for another time.

I haven't been doing it for that long, and rarely do it at all, special treat thing. But I do know that many people use "blender mush" type foods that include all kinds of raw seafood into one mix with good results/no problems. How did you find out the clam introduced a parasite?
