I'm running low on home made fish food, time to make another batch. However I have small tanks and don't need a lot of food. Anybody want to split the cost and food ?

Is it the kind you can freeze and thaw out as needed? What all do you put in it? I am willing to..

Yes, it's frozen flat in zip lock bags and you just break off chunks to feed.

I get a bag of mixed seafood (a pound of fish, squid, clams, and oysters) at Publix, add sushiwrap, cyclopeeze, and selcon (a vitamin supplement). Blend it and freeze it.

I only need about a third of a batch otherwise it gets freezer burned.

How much for the split?

Agu,
the mixed seafood bag is frozen or you just ask for the proper mix amount of "items" at the meat section?
Thanks:confused:

Hmmmm, Think it would be OK if I brought a blender and supplies to the next meeting ?

Actually if someone could bring a food processor that would be better.

When I make small batches just for myself it's a 1/4 pound of this, 5 mussels, three clams, etc.

However for larger batches they have frozen bags of mixed seafood that's pretty much ready to go.

Did some Pricing,

Mixed seafood (raw shrimp, squid, octopus, cuttlefish with cooked oyster ) is $4/ pound

Sushi wrap about $2 /package.

Cyclopeeze, $8/30 oz

Selcon, free as I have some.

If we only make a couple of pounds I have sushi wrap I'll throw in and a half container of cyclopeeze for $4

So, for 2# it'll cost about $12 or six bucks a pound. Unless you have a large tank with a lot of fish (like Brian ;) )a half pound is a good supply.

4 people at $3/ person

No new one .... I guess I am thinking if we are mixing anything we would not eat Except for vitamins and cyclopeze it should wash out...

But if it is that bad..Agu we could mix fish etc in processor and blend in
other stuff with your blender

For small batches I use the blender at home, everything is food grade. It does have an odor though. You'll want to rinse out the food processor before bringing it in the house and putting it in the dishwasher if the Mrs is home.

Obviously Scott ( and Dawn) have smelled raw fish food

I made a batch about 2 month ago. It does go very far. I double zipped locked and it is staying pretty healthy looking. Really it does not smell that bad, nothing soap and water won't was away. I think it will be fine to make at the next meeting at KD's...
If not we can do it at my house before hand, the shop is only 5 minutes away...I will try to get in to see Kevin to make sure it is OK...

If it's not a problem for the host we'll make it at the meeting.

So far it's Jim, Jerry, and me that are in ?

i'll get in. I kinda think that it might be a little rude to make our own food in Kevin's shop. I would feel a little better making it at scott's. Plus, I have not seen the new setup.:D

Scott,

Any word on where we're making fish food ?

FWIW.............I don't think Kevin would take offense at us whippin up some fish food at the meeting. He's the coolest FS owner in the area. I would think it would add a little something to the meeting.

I agree with you Jerry....but

We probably should ask to be on safe side

I certainly don't disagree with that. Both you and Scott live nearby. I could stop in after working in Tampa tomorrow.
