GRMAS MEETING MINUTES 2/06/06

·The next meeting will be held on Monday March 6, 2006. Due to our current meeting room being used for the entire month of March we will have a new meeting place for the March meeting. We will be meeting at United Bank’s corporate office, located at Cascade and East Paris. Watch MI reefers, Reef Central, and GRMAS.org for directions to the next meeting site.

·Due to the Swap meet we are hosting in March we will NOT be having an auction at the end of the March meeting. Grow those corals out and bring them to the Swap!!

·Treasurer report: After the January meeting the club had $956 in club funds, these funds have been generated by member dues and the proceeds from the end of meeting auctions.

·Thanks to Rob Macy for getting our website updated!! It looks great; keep up the good work!!

·Gerde brought in the dichotomous key we got while at the A&M tour. The tour was a lot of fun and we were able to practice classification of soft corals (octocorals).

·GRMAS members that went to the John Ball Zoo this weekend will be able to present what they learned from their behind the scenes tour.

·Gerde has prepared and distributed a press release regarding the Swap and our general meetings.

·Gerde presented several interesting articles regarding reef keeping in the news.

·RJ presented on his new tank set-up.

·Update/ progress on Swap Meet:
oThe club voted to drop the table prices to $10 for ½ table and $20 for a full 6 foot table. Table prices will be half the price for club members who need extra table space (aside from the GRMAS table that will be set up). The fee for a table also includes admission and 1 free raffle ticket.

oThe club voted on admission discounts for other MI clubs; it was decided that we will not be giving discounted prices for admission.

oNext meeting we will have a sign up sheet for club members to volunteer their time working at the Swap meet. Options include: Selling food, working the door, working the club table, and selling raffle tickets. Please think about what you would like to do to help and sign up at the next meeting.

oThe club will be selling pizza, pop, and bottled water at the Swap meet. Chad and Julie Kirby are working on getting this ready for the club.

oReef Nutrition will be delivering supplies for the club to use as raffle prizes. We will be getting these items that night prior to the Swap meet. The club also voted to purchase ORA SPS frags and some LPS frags/ colonies for raffle prizes. Brian will be working with VIPets on getting the SPS frags and Mark will be working with Chow Hound to get LPS frags/ colonies. Once these are acquired we will have photos taken and placed on the website and forums. Ed and Brian are planning to speak with Solomon Seas about donating gift certificates for raffle prizes, Mark will speak with Chow Hound about donating gift certificates for raffle prizes.

oRaffle tickets will be sold at the Swap and will cost 1 for $1 or 6 for $5. Admission will include 1 free raffle ticket.

oDerek will be working on signs for the swap meet. He will bring these signs to the next meeting. Scott and Matt will be bringing wire sign holders to the next meeting.

oPlease start thinking about what you will be selling at the Swap. If you could get pics of these items and post on the MI reefers forum this will help to generate more interest in the Swap meet.
