Well, finally sold the 180g. Lugged it out yesterday. Figure that now is as good of time as any to share a few pictures of the 72g reef tank.

Specs:
72g AGA tank, rear drilled overflows
MyReef MR-2 skimmer powered by Mak4
60g sump full of live rock
200lb of live rock, maybe more?

10 lps +/-
20+ softies

Chevron tang
flame angel
3 eel cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp
pseudochromis fridmani
canary blennie
2 algae blennies
strombus, stomatella, turbo, astrea, cerith snails

Erin's acro, if you look close you can see the green montipora with brown polyps from Matt.

Very nice.:D What type of lighting are you using? How long has the tank been up and running? I love those bowfront tanks and want to set up a big one in the future.

Frag from BARE about 8 months ago. Does anyone else still have this one growing? It is brown with green polyps, but will go purple under intense light. Let me know how yours is doing.

Darn it, knew I was forgetting vitals.

lighting: 2x150w 10,000K AB and 1 40w actinic.

I leave the halides on for 9 hours a day and actinic for about 14.

I have had the tank since october of 99 and most of the corals and rock for over a year, several for a couple years. I set this tank up reef again just a couple months ago when I moved most of my corals from the 180g back into it.

One more from that frag meeting. This one grew from 4 1/2" tips. It actually has blue/grey tip coloration under high intensity. Not the brightest, but I really like how the colony is shaping up.

Doug,

The Acro (brown with green polyps) came initially from Reef Science. It wasn't doing too well in Lance's holding tanks, so he gave it to us to propagate at one of our meetings. I still have two pieces of it growing. It grows pretty slow for me, compared to my other acro's.

Cool colors!

Hey the 72 is looking great!

Hi Doug,
Nice tank...
Do you have a canopy. I have a 72G AGA Bow as well...still debating what should I do with the lighting setup.....love to build my own hood but not enough tools....
Another thing...is your Flame Angel well behave?

stephane, yes that is actually three rose anemones. I have some close ups, but not on me. Drop me an e-mail and I can send you a coupld of shots.

Hey Matt, Yeah, I almost killed it myself. The reason it is growing kind of shelf like is because it is filling back over receeded areas. Looks to be about fully recovered and growing okay. It was hit pretty hard in that algae bloom we had after the initial 180g swap.

Duce, I am using an enclosed canopy to hold the AB fixture. I designed it and had the guys over at Reefland store build it. I will most likely be rebuilding it shortly. Flame angel is a bit of a stinker. For days on end it will be a model citizen. Then it will spend a day picking on one of my brians. Other than the brains it appears to be fairly well behaved. I think all angels have a soft spot for the mucus on brain corals.

No it is actually electric blue. Just the way my camera rendered it. Great fish though. We have had it for years and always wanted to pop it into our reef.

It's very very nice!

Beautiful tanks Doug, like I said, I wish I had more time to hang around when I came down.

Yes, I am darn proud of them too:p . Actually I thought they looked kinda fallic, so they are staying for a while for my amusement  . Okay, the truth is that I hate plucking valonia one at a time so I have to wait for a few to pop up before I get my but in gear.

One more pic. My pocillopora d.

Talk about phallic...what is that coral with polyps in the lower left of the photo with the flame angel (above the red brain)?

Super tank! WOW. You'll have to invite BARE over sometime so we can see it in person. Beautiful!

Maureen,
Tee hee... You should see it when it is closed up. Realy isn't suitable for children. I got that frag from Newkie a few months back. It is finally starting to develop a rim which additional fingers will grow from. It is a devils hand leather. Phallic eh. So that is how you spell it:D . I really do take advantage of spell checkers.

I really like your aquascaping--the placement of rock and corals.
