I have SD sand again. I have plenty so spread the word. Each 50 pound bag is $14 until supplies last.
I've heard that the new owners of SouthDown may stop bagging the sand, who knows???
Email me if you are interested.

Tim-
I'll take 5 bags. Can you bring them to the next meeting,or do I need to come get them beforehand?

If anyone wants any live sand to seed the Southdown, let me know. I will have hundreds of pounds available. It is mostly oolitic. Absolutely full of worms, etc.

Brian - If you could bring me some at the next meeting you attend, it would be greatly appreciated. A little bio-diversity is good for the soul....Not to mention the DSB!

Thanks!

It will be a few weeks before I start breaking down my tanks, but when I do I will have the sand available.

Right now, I have 2 180 tanks set up. One has almost 100% southdown sand. The other has probably 50/50. The tank with 100% sd sand has three wrasses in it, and it doesn't have near the life as the other tank, but it is much prettier sand.

The other tank is literally crawling with worms and critters. It just has three fish in it (a tang, butterfly, and blackcap) and the sandbed is thriving. It is a mixture of southdown and "dirtier" sand, so it doesn't look as nice, but it is very, very active.

When I set up my new tank, I will probably only use enough of the old sand to seed the tank, and some to set up a refugium. In any case, there will definitely be a bunch left.

It also depends on how much sand Henry wants when he takes the one 180.

Hi Audrey

Yes, I am moving. Not very far though. I will still be in Mattoon. I am taking my tanks down in order to set up my new 550 gallon tank. Henry is also taking his tanks down in advance of moving to a new place.
