February Meeting: Tank Photography with Jason Wedehase
When: Saturday, Feb 25th, 12:00 Noon
Where: Cancun Restaurant, 135 E Miner Ave, Stockton CA

Jason Wedehase is a reefer from Kingsburg, just south of Fresno. Jason's interest in photography started when he used to manage a race car Web site, and couldn't get anyone to submit photos, so he borrowed equipment and learned to take them himself. Well, the shutterbug bit him, and he's had fun experimenting and teaching himself to use the camera ever since. When Jason started his first reef tank in 2004, the reef quickly became his camera's new favorite subject. Now Jason confesses to spending entirely too much time in front of the tank with the camera, but what better way to entertain both addictions?

You can see some of Jason's photos on the CVReefers website:
Tank Photos (http://www.cvreefers.org/showthread.php?t=3424)
Georgia Aquarium (http://www.cvreefers.org/showthread.php?t=3955&highlight=georgia+aquarium)

Bring your cameras!

Other Stuff

- This is the first meeting at what may possibly be our new venue (Cancun) so please let us know what you think of the new spot, parking, food, etc....

- We'll be talking about some of the planned meetings and events for the upcoming year so don't miss out!

- Extending a special welcome for new members. This is the first meeting of the year so come on out, see what's happening, and meet a few local reefers.

Aren't the yearly dues up in feb too? When is it time to renew?

To answer, if you became a contributing member (made a $20 or more cash donation) in Feb. of last year then your contributing member status will be expiring. If you would like to continue to support the club , you'll receive a new contributing member card good for another year.

This is not required however it is your club, and by making a contribution you make it better for yourself and others. Donated funds pay for events, speakers, etc... Not to mention that all of our sponsors (http://nvreefers.org/sponsors.php?PHPSESSID=f46fdd2a18f754d798007f50341c5bb7) give discounts when presented with a contributing member card.

We are generating an email list that will go out very soon as a reminder to all those who's contributing member status will expire in 30 days (or less).

Jacob, sounds good... who wouldn't want to support the club.. just if you did it only for the discounts it's worth it 100 times over! And cancun is fine, good food at a decent price, and they have PLENTY of room there... plus downtown is a lot better now... even after the meeting people could go with their family to the movies across the street .. or there is a hockey game the day of the meeting... they suck but man it's fun to go and watch them play... anyone else besides me go and watch the Thunder play?

My daughter has watched them a couple of times. Her boyfriends family has season tickets. So far, they are 1-1 when she has been there. We are huge Avalanche fans ( Colorado ), but we hardly ever get to see them live, so this will do for now. Back to the main subject......................

Oh ya, I forgot that we actually have meetings. Just Kidding. Yeah it should be a good time. Every other month sure does seem a long time away.

Yeah - every other month does seem too long. I miss seeing some of you. Of course it didn't help that I wasn't able to make it to the last meeting. :P

Nothing is written in stone, we decided to try every other month for several reasons.

a) Low attendance towards the end of the year
b) Everyone on the BOD is extremely busy with our 'other' jobs
c) BOD is still shorthanded and could use one more person (Communications Officer)
d) We can do 6 educational meetings that keep big brother happy, and in the off months we can do whatever we want (bbq, tank tour, road trip, etc...) or nothing at all :)

By the way we will be looking at putting some of these events together in the off months and encourage any of our members to volunteer to 'lead' an event, with the support of the BOD.

Hey Jacob,

I hope you didn't take my comment as any sort of criticism. Actually - I think the BOD is doing a GREAT job. That's why I enjoy coming to the meeting, and miss it when we don't have one. :D

I didn't take it in a negative way at all, but criticism is always welcome here! We are not a dictatorship and any input that the members have is appreciated!!

p.s. thanks for the kind words.

There is also parking at Cancun Restraunt which was not shown on the email that went out (for those on the mailing list). Just wanted to make sure everyone understood that.

Hey NVR -

Thanks for another great meeting. I really enjoyed spending time with all of you. Sorry I won some of the raffles... ok, maybe not that sorry. ;-) Great seeing everyone again. It was definitely worth the drive down there.

Yeah it was really good to see everyone yesterday, especially some of the faces that hadn't been around for awhile. I've got a few new ideas to play with on the camera now and I'm looking forward to taking some pics of my tank... uh as soon as I get the rest of the sand out!

I've got Jason's meeting notes and will turn them into outline format and post for everyone's reference later this week.
