I have a 10k 250w MH and 2x65w PC's. Wondering if it's too much for a 29 that's stocked with mostly zoo's, softies, a clam and a couple SPS.

Wow! that's alot of light... 13.10 watts per gallon.
You'll probably be able to keep whatever you want in there.

Better check on the heat... do I hear chiller in the near future.

I run 250w 14k MH over my 29g and for some LPS and some softies it seems to be to much, my blastos liked it way better under PC but for SPS and clams they love it. Just try to make some shaddy areas for your lower light corals.

remember, your trying to KEEP, not COOK, the corals

I have 1 250W 14K and 1 65W actinic PC over my 30. I think you will be fine. I have mostly softies and a few LPS, had some sps but lost those before my move (only because of lack of time to take care of tank)

her is mine

bullDZR do you have any pictures, or could you take one with only your MH on? im trying to figure out what bulb to get

do you have the 36" long 30 gallon?

my tank is 26" wide so ther will be some difference. as for with what bulb, that is what it looks like with the 14K. the actinic is really only for dusk and dawn effect.

I have a 250w 14k on my 30...but thats for mostly SPS, i think that what you have would be perfect for SPS and clams. If you continue to keep softies and zoos, I would suggest you make a shady spot to keep them out of the direct light.
As for heat- Just make sure that you have a fan blowing directly across the water's surface so cool it off, thats is what I do and I have no problem what-so-ever with my heat.

Hope this helps.
