I have been going crazy over lighting just like I did when I was putting together my 200 gal.

Has anyone tried the Odyssea (sp??) fixtures? I am looking at the 130W with the moon light option. The price seems too good to be true but with a 12K lamp and an Actinic it sure would look purdy...

All other fixtures are more expensive and I am trying to do this on the cheap until we decide whether we really want to go all out again.

We visited a couple of LFSs in Raleigh today and I was already saying, "Hmmmm, that little 40 gal. is a nice size - that would fit in the kitchen right by the ... Hee! Hee!

So, are these lights a good buy or are they junk?

Thanks - Laurie

I don't know, I keep hearing alot of bad things about that company. The prices sure make it tempting though. When it comes to electrical, around my tanks, where my kids are running around, I'd rather spend the extra bucks and get a more reputable fixture.

They are not reliable!

The ballast burn up and capasitors melt, when you want to return it they screw you over. I just got done dealing with them, it cost me over $100 to use their light for a month and having it almost burn down my house.

I have one I set up a week ago. So far I like it.

One thing I don't like is that the moonlight and main lights though switched separtely are wired together so you have one cord. I have my main lights on a timer so when the timer goes off, power to the whole light goes off and no moonlights. Other than manually switching things on and off I don't know how you'd get around this.

I have the light you are talking about it I haven't had any problems. I bought mine off ebay, I wouldn't buy from aquatraders.
