GRMAS Meeting Minutes 1/4/06
·Next meeting will return to normal first Monday of the month: February 6th at the Family Fare Community Room from 7pm-9pm.
·Treasurer Report: The club currently has $793.96 in the club funds after the last meeting. Funds were generated by club dues and proceeds from the end of meeting auctions.
·Due to schedule conflicts and a recent move our current webmaster has not been able to keep the GRMAS website current, we discussed seeking assistance from another member to help keep the website current. Rob Macy has volunteered to help get the website up to date and remain current. Thank you Rob. Rob and Larry will be in contact with each other in the near future to work out the details in order to get the website in order.
·Frag Swap update: Several letters have been sent to the sponsors on the MI reefers website discussing our event and inviting those companies to participate in the event. We have also asked for donations of items to raffle during the event. We are currently awaiting responses from these companies. We also decided to allow people who come to the swap but that do not have enough items to sell to purchase a table to bring in 5 items as part of their admission. We also addressed having a GRMAS club table to allow members who are working at the swap to sell their items from. We plan to continue to contact further companies for donations for raffle prizes. Gerde has created a flier for the swap meet, which can be distributed at local businesses and will be posted on the web to advertise the Frag Swap. We will discuss further spending necessary for raffle prizes at the next meeting pending responses from local businesses.
·A&M tour: The MASM and MMMC have graciously invited our club and members to participate in a tour of A&M Aquatics and a presentation on coral identification. The tour was to take place on Saturday January 7, 2006 at noon. Though this was late notice, the club voted to participate in this opportunity. Club members that were to attend would pay $5 per person to attend the event to offset the cost to the club. The club members that attended will present information they learned during the next meeting.
·There is a Frag Swap on January 29th at Reale’s Reef. Any member who plan to attend this swap, please contact Gerde for a copy of the flier for our Frag Swap to distribute at this event.
·We also discussed designing T-shirts to support the club. Members present were asked to pick a couple of designs they would like to see on our T-shirts. Julie Kirby will bring examples of our selections to the next meeting with options for T-shirt colors to the next meeting for club members to vote on. The cost of the shirts will be determined after the shirt color and designs are determined.
·A suggestion to change the split for meeting auctions has been requested. Due to time constraints, this will be discussed and voted upon at the February meeting.
