I just lost my 6 line today. It has been in QT doing great. I got home from tropicorium and found him stuck to the inlet of the maxijet. He was still breathing, so I turned it off to unstick him. He barely swam to the corner and was laying there breathing really heavy. I am not sure what happened. I checked the water (Nitrates, Nitrites and Ammonia) and all looked good. Did a quick water change too to be sure. He then started breathing so slowly that I just put him out of his misery The pygmy angel that is also in QT is doing fine. RIP :(

Why did you QT him for so long? I would of thought a week would of been plenty of time.

1 week is not enough to be sure there is no ICH the cycle is longer than that. 4-6 weeks with hypo preferred for an effective ICH removal. I did not do hypo on him yet.

He was not intended to be in there that long... I planned to put him in my tank. I then had an ICH outbreak in my tank so I plan to catch all my fish and put them in the new (used) 40 for hypo treatment. The hubby insisted that I had to have fish in my tank for x-mas. We were having guests and he did not want them to see a fishless tank. I'd hate to put him in the main tank and just have to catch him again, so I left him in the small QT.

Usually I don't really QT stuff. I just take the chance so far nothing serious has happened! ;)
