hay paul im interested but I heard that its hard for a coral comming out of a zeo tank to make the transition to a non-zeo tank let alone a un-filtered tank, your thoughts and do you have pics

he doesn't have a skimmer and I don't recall if he even has a sump/filter installed. I think it is just bascially just a closed loop :)

I personaly would not recommed anyone keep sps without a skimmer. No matter where the sps came from.

Steve Tyree's tanks are skimmer less and the last few frags I got from him, they were very healthy. The tort I got from him had full polyp extension the day I put the frag in my tank and no color loss.

Hey prodman thanks for all the frags. All polyps were out and doing fine except the ponape. The drive back wasn't so bad, only took me 45 minutes.

I am using a skimmer but no zeo.

I got the info from a grower that switched back, and some implications of the threads on the zeo page, do they hold their color? Paul dont take my questions as comments, I really would like to know.

Tyree uses sponges rather than skimmers to filter his tanks.

Regarding Zeovit, it seems like a few months ago a lot of people were jumping on that bandwagon and lately I'm been reading more about people dropping it and going back to what they were doing before.

For those that made the switch to Zeovit, are you happy with the results?

Personally, I'm still working on mastering good SPS color. I think my biggest problem is that my main tank is a mixed tank and it seems like the more non-SPS things you have, the harder it is to get the best SPS color.

Best of luck,

Roy

Well from a for sale thread to s zeo discussion. I pesonaly have not heard of anyone quitting zeo latley. I am having too good of results to ignore. Not many people who use zeo come around reef central anymore so you only hear from the people who quit, most of which never followed the zeo plan properly to begin with. Like those who went BB but dont siphon the detritus and use a small skimmer and then wonder why they still have algea.
When I get my camera figured out I will start up my zeo thread again so you can see the progress I am making in my tank using zeo

Who is "Steve Tyree" (I tried putting that name in the search button but nothing showed up), exactly what type(s) of sponges does he use and how long has he been using that method?

Here is Steve's main site.

Best of luck,

Roy

PS: If the Zeo people don't use RC, where did they go? I think your corals are nice. For myself, I need to get better at maintaining SPS, in about 50% of the cases, the nicely colored stuff I get turns brownish (but it grows well). When I get to 80% plus success, I'll feel better about buying SPS.

sorry didnt mean to hyjack the thread, Im interested in buying some of your corals, but I have reservations thats all. its not an attack on your system, just concerned if the corals will make the transittion back without losses.

No problem. They are no different than any other corals.
