Ok, who is running one? Found this in the RMRC forum and i always thought that running ozone was the same as a UV filter and that it killed all the benificial zooplankton that corals feed on.

That would be me. I control it with a Milwakee ORP controller and have it on a timer to run 4 hrs a day. Love how it mkes my tank so clear.

Not the same as a UV at all:)
Yes it will kill some things bacteria and such make your skimmer work better, but the contact time is just not there for what is run in a tank to kill pods, ick etc
Now you have a contact time of 3 or 5 min yea it will kill allot of things but the one other good thing is it binds some heavy metals and is removable via skimmer
Some people say it will eliminate Ammonia but that's not true in our tanks
It will with a PH above 9 but not lower
But the ozone itself is removed as soon at it leaves the skimmer via carbon and even if missed by the carbon ozone is very unstable and converts to 02 quickly if not used

I get my Ozotech Poseidon this Fri and my Milwaukee ORP controller tomorrow :D

Here is a good thread to get ya started on Ozone ;)

I just use the Rea Sea Ozonizer Plus; it has a built in ORP monitor, just have to buy the probe seperately. I just set the ORP to 375, set the dosing amount to 15mg/hr so it doesn't dump a ton of O3 into the tank at once and let it run! Pretty simple and other than the vinegar dip on the probe from time to time to clean it, and recharge (bake) the airdrier beads, which I have yet to do, it takes care of itself. :)

Paul, be careful with that unit. It doses 200mg/hr and has no way to control the output. I helped Grantz with his by modifying a few things and when I get back to CO I would be happy to help you get it dialed in. They are good units but it is very easy to OD the system with that one.
