There's a guy in tulsa fixing to order a pallet of SD sand on this forum if we can show enough interest. Just thought you should know. How many bags are on a pallet anyway?

How much is in a bag? If it's 25lb a bag then i'll take about 6, how much will it cost a bag also?

I believe that there are 56 bags on a pallet. The bags are 50lbs. Most people sell them for between $10-15 a bag, but it's really up to the seller.

I would go for 2 bags to start with. I will go for more if it helps seal the deal.

Welcome Bollox, I've been in the process of setting up a 220 for the last couple of months and all I can tell you is, DON'T DO IT!!!! It has been a huge pain in the ***, of course my tank is possessed, and yours probably isn't. :D

Welcome again,

Don

Are you talking about those evil green crabs with red eyes that lurk in the holes of your liverock, i've had a couple of those in my 70gal I usually pry them out with tweezers or stab them. One of the little guys was collecting rubble and building himself a cave in my liverock. I don't even have a the 200gal tank yet still in the planning stages i'll probably be asking you guys and gals about different equipment to use. I am strongly considering getting aquacultered liverock for it from tampa bay saltwater when the time comes would anyone be interested in getting some with me, I know it's still going have some of the nasties with it but I like the idea of buying liverock that is a renewable source rather than the stuff that's hacked off reefs and also it is packed in water from the time it comes out of the ocean, still some die off but not like the figi stuff which sits on the beach for hours and then is dry packed to California then dry packed to a lfs.

The 500 gallon at sw 44th and western in the childrens place is full of aquacultrue rock all 600 pounds of it. It as good looking as I have seen anywhere. It caused a realatively small cycle, sevral corals survived and are growing.

I'm interested. How far will 50lbs go......I would like to create a 4-5in bed in a 110gl + 30gl refugium.

JD8,

Sorry, a little off topic here, but I couldn't help but notice in your interests that you have parrots? :D Do you have one (or more)? We have a 7-8 year old TAG. I really think that birds are fascinating.
Also, more on topic---We're in the process of setting up a 220 and to get about a 4in bed, we used 5 bags, well maybe 6, I can't remember for sure, it's 4:30am.

Okay, I'm a little more awake now. We did use 5 bags, but also some other substrate too. At the top of the page there's a calculator link, if you enter the dimensions of your tank and desired sand depth, it will tell you how many lbs of sand you'll need. :)

HTH,
Becky

rldavis...Currently I am parrotless......Long story but I had a African Grey that I won at the very bird show I went to 9 yrs ago. I have given the Grey to a very close friend whom can give it more attention(they require so much) since I am in school. As soon as I'm out of school though......gonna get a Cockatoo

We had an Umbrella Cockatoo (he lives with my Dad now), that's how I ended up with his Gray. I absolutely love Cockatoos, but they can very easily become tyrants, so watch out. :D Mine almost caused a divorce, that's how bad it got. I personally find the Gray much easier. But I'd love to talk to you sometime about that stuff! Maybe at the next club meeting?? (It's at our house:) )

Take care,
Becky

Yeah Cockatoos are a handful....which is why I won't get one until I am established.

I won't be able to attend a meeting....although I'd love to....until maybe August when I move back down to Norman.;)

For those who haven't used it, to give you an idea....

5 bags of Southdown (250 lbs) gave me a 4"-5" sand bed in my 75g.

Is there any sand left? I'd like two bags.

Bollox
