I found a hitchhiker today and want be sure if it was a pistol or mantis. I looks like a mantis, but made a clicking sound. Do mantis shrimps click too? I'll take a picture when i get a chance. Hes about an inch long, grey and very fast. Didnt notice him until i fed the tank and i saw him dodge out of his hole.

did it come from some store here locally? what did ya buy that he hitchhicked on? I'd say from the clicking it's a pistol but would have to see a pic to confirm!

I think you can hear mantis' making clicking noises when they are smashing things like hermit crabs.

Bryan is correct, it would have to strike something to make a noise if it is a mantis.

i took the rock out and left it in a bucket of freshwater for awhile, took it out, shook it for 10-20 seconds and he came out. took longer to find a bottle to put him in!

I might take him from you if nobody else wants him. I need to take my mantis in for credit, it's just too big for my tank and I feel a little sorry for it in there.

how big is yours? this guy is about an inch. not very colorful, but im sure entertaining none the less.
