Hello reefers :-)

I have a Heteractis Aurora that already doubled in size in my aquarium.

I've read that they are tricky to maintain in the long term.

I would like to know if the fact my H. Aurora is growing very well right now can be missleading about its fate.

Luis the Aurora is it a Pacific or Atlantic Anemone ? What type of lighting are you using ? Is it hosting any Clowns ? Have you noticed a change in color at all ? Can you post a picture ?

I've never seen one available at any of my LFS'.

Heteractis Aurora = the "Beaded Anemone". It's a fairly easy to maintain Pacific species.

Felicitações em ter um forum de Portugeuse! :)

Hey that's pretty good Gary we're going to have to have you post regularly here in Portuguese when it becomes available;)

Have you seen the Aurora available here in the states ? I havent seen it at any of the on-line retailers or LFS'

Beaded anemones stay rather small. They're available quite regularly in the USA.

Yes, Gary is rigth about being a pacific anemone.

Mine is about 12 cm in diameter now, but I bought it very small (around 6 cm) and literally abandoned in a low quality LFS.

Here it is a picture taken when I bought her:

My small aquarium has PC lighting (108 W), but I will be installing a new T5 fixture with 6 x 39 W in the next few days (1 x actinic, 1 X 15.000 K, and 4 x 9.500 K).

Due to my 8 cm sand bed, I only have 25 cm of water deep.

The anemone isn't hosting any clowns and I don't notice a significant change in color. Maybe, a bit more brownish now.

Promptly accepts any available food.

Ok now I'm familiar with the anemone just had never seen it under Aurora. I've never kept one but as Gary mentioned they're not as difficult to keep as the other Heteractis genus.

By the way, cheeks69, by what name do you know this anemone?

Easier than the bubble?
