Jim at Seascape got me a Bellus Genicanthus tonight. I have already fed the little beauty Mysis and Brine, and she is eating them both. I can't wait to put her in the display.
Jim got me one in less than a week, when nobody else has been able to in at least a month.

I will post some pics when I get a chance, and it is a female. She is about 3 inches long and already eating. So far no problems. Seems fat and happy. (great for fish, not so much for us)

that's a beautiful one!!!!
do you think a bellus would like a 75-80gallon cube tank? when I set mine up I'm thinking about getting one.
It's also a planktivore... yet I've heard it will still nip corals.
Do you have a reef tank? Any problems with the corals? Or is she still in the QT?

I don't think they should be in less than 125, but I am not sure. I have not heard much about nipping corals, but you never know.

I've got one too, and she never nips at anything.

Ok, now for the bad. She quit eating the past day, and yesterday evening when I got home from work she was dead. I don't have a clue what caused this. She had nothing visibly wrong with her. I don't know if it was rough handling during capture or what, but I am really bummed.
I still would like to keep one, but I may wait a few weeks.

that bites big time!!!! maybe next time, see if they will hold her for say 2 weeks before you pick her up, 1) it acts like stabilization period and 2) if anything goes wrong, you are not on the hook for paying for it.
sorry to hear about her.

Deep water fish are sometimes difficult...and the Genicanthus speicies has one of the worst records of being caught with agents other than nets. If your going to drop your dime on a fish like that insist on at least two weeks at the LFS for observation. Your story is all too common in the hobby unfortunately.

Thanks guys for the encouragement. I am going to try again since this is one of the fish I really want. I will see if the LFS will hold a little longer than 2 hours next time.
