so i think i def. want a blenny in my 20H. this makes my stocking list look like this: 6-line, blenny, 3rd undertimined fish (MAYBE orchid pseudo, or goby/pistol pair, or chalk basslet, or clown).

i def. want a blenny and 6-line though....so anyways, i really like the midas. i think they look better than a bicolor and my research is telling me they have the personality too. actually all the bicolors ive seen have been solid grayish. no blue/yellow. i dont want a grey fish lol.

anyways the midas should be good in a 20H right? i just wanna make sure....if not that what are some other interesting, good looking blennies?

But remember they do grow slightly bigger than other blennies.

Between the 6-line and the Midas, both are somewhat aggressive. IMO I'd skip a dottyback [and anything really shy].

Love my Midas too :)

I really like tiny, colorful, uncommon Ecsenius blennies. They are usually full of personality. Liveaquaria has a few such as; Tail Spot Blenny, Black & Yellow Blenny, Two Spot Bimaculatus Blenny. Keep them in mind ;)

I had a midas in my ol' 55g, it was so cool! I read they will pick at starfish nonstop, so if you want to keep those I'd stay away. Mine jumped out of the tank :(. Do you have a sealed top? I also read somewhere they have venemous fangs, all my books are in storage right now so I can't find where I got that from, anyone else know anything about that?

I love my Midas too. She really is one pretty fish. She's been the only one in the tank since I lost my clowns. She didn't like the clowns comeing near her rock, and wasn't afraid to let the clowns know it. Here are some pics..

This is the only fish I've seen with eye lashes..saying peek-a-boo

She can also turn very dark when she wants to hide.

yeah ive heard about the venomous fangs too.... just gotta be careful where you put your fingers! i dont htink its anything more than a beesting.... but if youre allergic..... it could get ugly i imagine. my tank is covered... i asked my local fish supplier for a tailspot or midas blenny, whichever one they could get :)

I don't think the fang thing should be an issue, unless someone was for some reason handling the fish. Mine got so tame he'd try to see if there was food in my hands whenever I was doing maintenence, it always creeped me out a little. My clowns, seahorses, & dwarf angel have all nipped at my hand thinking there'd be a treat. I never had the midas nip, but it did geek me out while I had him.

Midas are not fang-blennies, never heard of them being poisonous.

I don't know if mine has fangs or not. But she nipps at my hand and arm all the time whenever either come close to her rock. She's never broken the skin or hurt me.

alot of people go by the 1 fish per 10 gal rule. I personally wouldn't go w/ a 3rd open water swimmer. I'm a fan of the goby/shrimp pr, but I def wouldn't do 3 in a 20 w/out skimmer, refugia, & possibly dsb. Do you have any of these? Also, what type of chemical filtration do you employ? What is your regular maint schedule?

im getting a CPR aquafuge ps large so that covers the refugium and protien skimmer. i dont have a dsp, or chemical filtration. as far as water changes, i do 15-20% weekly.

Thanks for the link! My son has been lamenting the loss of his blenny ever since I had to downsize to the 12g. I don't trust them with my seahorses, but now I think I know what to look for when I have another system up.
