Aloha all,

I am curious as to the demographics & numbers of people who photograph fish in
the ocean and people who photograph fish in an aquarium.

Hi Doug,

All of my photos are from aquariums since I have never been near and ocean yet.

Doug,

I started trying to take film photos of my aquarium. Dismal results.
Lots of wasted film.

About 18 months ago, I bought a used Nikonos setup and went to the Bali conference. Spent a week on-board a live-aboard in Tukang Besi. Shot something like 17 rolls of Velvia- Most came out far better than I would have ever guessed they would. Nearly all macro shots on the range of 1:4.5 to 1:1.

Recently, I finally got a decent flash w/sync cord for my Nikon N70.
Aquarium photography is much, much easier now.
Only thing I have to try- use the flash set to 20mm (90 degree coverage) for the next round...

I've shot with both. I gotten good results from both- probably better with the Nikonos, but I am improving very quickly with the N70. Besides, it is tough getting a Nikonos w/framer into many aquariums.

Films: Fuji Velvia/Provia or Sensia II, Kodak E100VS or Kodachrome 64.

Next- save up for a decent slide scanner. Maybe the Nikon LS-4000?

Regards.
