I dont and use tap water. The woman at the LFS who is very knowagible(sp) said that our tap water was fine for softies, so I wont use it unless i see the corals not looking too good.

I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am to my LFS owner for 1st providing RODI water for sale, then stocking affordable units which I purchased 2 yrs ago. It has made a HUGE dif in algae growth.

I love my RO/DI unit. I wouldn't get a marine tank without one.

I don’t own a unit, but always make sure to purchase RO/DI water from the LFS. Since I’m a college student living in a dorm style apartment a real RO/DI system would be too much of a hassle. Because Since I’m only running a few smaller tanks it’s no big deal to go and purchase RO/DI for top offs at $0.50/gallon and pre-made Salt water with RO/DI for water changes around $0.60/gallon. One things for sure though....it makes a BIG DIFFERENCE over tap water! RO/DI all the way!

I'm not very good w/the technical side of things, but the RODI water sold at my LFS is so pure that it's not safe to drink. Fridge water still has enough dissolved solids in it to make it safe to drink, so I'm thinking it might not be pure enough to accomplish what RO water is supposed to do for your aquarium. Anyone else have more insight?
