anyone need uniseal? I didn't want to pay $5+ in shipping for $2 worth of item. here is where I'm going to buy it from:

http://www.aussieglobe.com/uniseal3.htm

Fyi, i'm buying to do a recirc mod on the G2.

Lak,

I am interested. I need on for my G3. In the MARS forum, someone else found another vendor that was pretty cheap. Unfortunately, the search feature is currently disabled. Let me know what you end up doing.

Minh,

I found the post. It's from the same vendor.

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=673816

I'm going to post on Mars and see if anyone else want one.

Lak

PS. there is another way to do a search. The catch is that you must know atleast one person who posted in that post.

Thanks Lak. So how do you do the "secret search?" Put me in for one or two . I will PM you the sizes tonight. :D

not really a secret, just click search on your name and it will show all your post. I wish google would cache rc.

I'm going to order it this friday. I'll probably take two also. 3/4" for the sedra and 1" for the return.

Lak,

I need to do some more research. I am not sure if I need a 1.25" or 1" uniseal. In addition, I need to try to figure out what size uniseal I would need for a EuroReef CD 5-3. Why don't you go ahead and order without me. I figured that I would spend $5 in gas to pick it up from your place anyway.

Lak,

I saw that site, but they didn't say what size uniseal you need for a G3. On the following link (http://www.sdreefs.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=35661) , the guy claims to use a 1" uniseal. However, I took my pump out and measure it to be 1.25" OD on the pipe. So I think I need a 1.25" uniseal.

Do you know what the diameter is of your intake? I assume that the Sedra 3500 has a smaller intake than the Sedra 5000.

Good thing you told me, I was going to order a 3/4" one. I'm in stockton so I won't be able to check it out until I head back to sac. Since asmskimmer already did one base off the G2, I think I'll be ok with the 1".

I check the spec on the uniseal. It looks like the 1" is the right one for you. I think the 1" uniseal refers to the ID of the tube and not your OD. If you look at the pipe OD, that should be close right?

Product No. 10104 • U100 UNISEAL® • 1"
PIPE ID 1" (25mm) • PIPE OD 1.315" (33mm)
HOLESAW SIZE 1.750" (44.4mm)

I'm not in any hurry to do the mod so tell me when your ready.

Lak,

Interesting. When I read the "PIPE ID 1" (25mm) • PIPE OD 1.315" (33mm)", I thought they were talking about the Uniseal ID and the Uniseal OD. But re-reading it, you're probably right. THey are probably talking about the actual Pipe size.

I need one for the mod I want to do on my Euroreef...

But i'm contemplating on leaving the hobby completely in order to get Obsessed/Addicted to te Koi fish hobby with this massive 12000gallon pond I'm building=) I'm contemplating possibly going into business with someone that designs them already in the future or possibly starting my own company building ponds/breeding koi=)

If you do sell, I want your tunze.

Hey - I can totally understand Dan's obession. Before I started on a reef tank, I was seriously looking into having a koi pond installed into my yard. :D I may still have one install one of these days. :D

Minh, do you still want it? I can bring it to the swap or you can pick it up from me at the NVR meeting.

Lang,

Sure. Put me down for four 1" Uniseal and two 3/4" uniseal. Hey, how are you planning on feeding your skimmer? If you prefer, I can order it, and you can pick yours up from me.

Thanks
Minh

Found out shipping is only 3.50. I need (2) 1" and (2) 1/2". If it would be easy for you, I can pick it up from you. I'm in Davis on Fridays and Sundays. I'm also going to the swap.

I was thinking of using a maxi-jet pump. I was going to go with the overflow route but I find that the water level is too inconsistent for it to work.

Reefugee
10/14/2005, 03:43 PM
Yeah - I am leaning towards a mxi-jet as well. I will go ahead and order it. Just out of curiosity, what are you using the 1/2" one for? Is that to feed the tank?

Minh

I was going to use the 1/2" on my mixing bucket so I can have the pump outside.

If you need a feed pump, I can give you one. I don't know why but I keep buying used maxijet, I got a storage bin full of them. (note to self, no more maxijet. :D)

:). The mod is based off the pump and not your skimmer. If you decide you want one, shoot me an email and I'll interoffice the extra one to you.

Sounds good, show us a picture when you get the pond up and running.

I don't know if I told you yet but next week will be my last week at the Pleasanton office.

Have you mod. your skimmer yet? How hard is it?

lanxang
10/25/2005, 03:19 PM
I haven't done the recirc mod but I did do the gateway mod. It took about $15 worth of parts from Osh.

Elite
10/25/2005, 03:24 PM
Yeah that mod is easy :) ...
Did you follow the instruction on ASMSkimmer.com? I know there are a several ways doing that. I'm wondering which one is better? I haven't have time to play with it.

lanxang
10/25/2005, 06:51 PM
