GRMAS 10/03/05 Meeting minutes

·Treasurer Report: $466 in club funds. (Generated from membership dues and proceeds from auction splits).

·Next Meeting: Monday November 7th, from 7-9 pm at regular meeting place.

Review from last meeting:
We now have a Correspondence Secretary (Scott Yonkers). Please see Scott if you have any recommendations for contacts to get our name out into the community or have a particular representative from a company you would like to provide us with information.
Reminder that the Marine Aquarium Society of Michigan is having an all day event in March that has proven to be fun and helpful in the past. If interested please check their website: www.masm.org
Auction/ Swap meet we are hoping to host in February to generate funds for the club: We have decided not to pursue any further until we have a location secured to host this event, then we can further develop ideas on how to generate funds for the club. If anybody has any leads on a place we can host this please let us know. We are looking for a public place, preferably close to an expressway, that will allow water (esp saltwater) on their premises, and hopefully will also allow food/ beverage of some sort. If anyone has any ideas or contacts please let one of the officers know so we can work on booking this event.

·There were lots of new faces tonight!!!! Thank you all for stopping out to see what we are about. I hope you learned something and met some new friends. Hope to see you all next month!!!!

·Discussed options for what club members would like to see done with funds generated for the club. Some options mentioned: buy corals and teach members how to frag them and everyone in club would have opportunity to get a rare coral frag, allocate money for picnic/ holiday party (potentially with raffle to allow club members change to get equipment/ etc donated to club), spectrographic analysis test kit free to use for members to test tank water on at meetings.

·Scott Yonkers gave a presentation on culturing phytoplankton. Please see Scott if you have any questions about this process or if you would like more information.

·Auction: The auction this time was amazing!!! We sold our first fish (have you named him yet Bob?), Thanks to Letta for all the wonderful corals she brought in, and a big thanks to Chow Hound for their donation to the club!!!! Hopefully, next month will be as amazing!!
