Guys,

I'm on a mission here... My wife has been *****ing about our monthly electricity bill, and she believes
our reef tanks are attributed to the high monthly electricity bills. So I did a little calculations and found
out that our reef tanks use 25.779 KWH per day. Based on 0.09911/KWH, the tanks cost me
$76.65 per month. YuK! The major suckers are 3 x Iwaki 55 pumps, which running 24 hours
per day. By taking down 1 of them I can save $12 a month. BTW, I didn't include the hidden cost
of electricity for my well pump, which works hard to provide RO/DI water out of the near drought
underground water source.

How much do you spend monthly on your electricity for your reef?

hey -
reefcentral actually has an elecrticity usage calculator, if I'm not mistaken. You can find it on the main page.
Using that, I calculated about 17/month for my 55, but I'm using VHO, no sump, simple setup.
