I added a pair of mandarins to my 180 a month ago. Small and immature I thought, but they did the spawning dance tonight!! Just like Dwayne's video, up the water column followed by a spawn. Obviously I was not prepared to be a daddy and the shrimp/fish eagerly had a fine meal. ohhh, but the next time, Dwayne lead me to the light!!

I've never seen anything like it,

Woah!

What are all the parameters?! How big is the tank?!

Sounds REALLY cool. If anyone gets these fish bred and raised to adulthood, it would certainly help these fish in general. Once again, that's really cool.

From what I've read, babies do not respond well to rotifers. (Article from Breeder's Registry didn't have them past a week old).

Agu - Be careful, be very careful. :smokin:

There is no known cure for this addiction. :D

Let us know how it goes.

The tank is a lightly stocked 180 with normal reef parameters. A naso tang, pair of percs(who have never spawned), a firefish, a chromis, and the mandarins. Had I not seen Dwaynes video I would have had no clue about what was going on, there aren't many mandarin porno flicks :o . Don't know if I'm up to trying to raise the spawn though. However, imo it indicates it's fairly easy to get them to spawn. I also have a pair of clarkii clowns in a 37 oceanic who have been together 18 months who have never spawned, and a pair of bangaii in a forty breeder pushing five months who appear to be both males. So I have at least three mated pairs of fish and the mandarins are the only ones where I've observed spawning behavior.

Dwayne, You've lead the way, and I'm thinking long and hard about trying to raise the fry, how often will they spawn?? We could be the Frank Marini of the mandarins :smokin:

It wouldn't play for me!! Said I was missing Quick time software. I don't know what that means, or how to fix it:( I did have a pair of Yellow Sleeper Gobies that had a awesome mating ritual, but unfortunately one of them jumped. So do you guys have a good picture of a female? I'm sure I have a male.
