Thinking about setting up a 2.5gal mini bow or the 5gal mini bow. Just wanna see who else out there has one. Would love to see some pic's to get an idea of what im in for. Thanks.

What you're in for is mainly very poor lighting options for stock hood.

Here's my Mini-Bow 5g as of today. The thing changes all the time. Right now, no fish. I had no success with fish in there. It's got about 12 lbs. of LR. You can see the coral frags. For inverts: cleaner shrimp, hermit, 2 astreas, pom pom crab and a sand anemone.

As you can see, I removed the hood and placed a Coralife 12" 36w PC fixture on there. The front legs had to be precariously attached and balanced, but once you do it there's really no danger of slippage, unless you live on the San Andreas Fault, I guess. It also allows breathing room for the water. If you want any corals or anemones, this is the only way. The highest rated bulb for the MB5 hood is a measily 20w.

Custom hoods aren't that easy to make, but probably the best lighting option, imho. I don't like Mini-bows, but that one is a nice looking setup.

Im thinking something ALOT more basic, Like Mini Bow 2.5 and maybe the 10w or 20w screw in bulb for a upgrade, small aquaclear filter just pumping for circulation and thats it, just looking for a little home for my harliquen shrimp and maybe some zoo's and shrooms, nothing crazy. Weekly water changes, daily top off, weekly dosin of Bionic...etc.

What cha's think.?

that's what I had (2.5)just with 27w light set up was at work the aq mini is just right for the tank

I am not that skilled at DIY stuff...I ordered the hood from Matt Gecko. Your lighting options are very limited with a minibow, unless you have a canopy. The easiest mod (for the 7 gallon) would be to fit a 32 watt retrofit kit into the stock hood. Some have even fit 2 32 watt bulbs in there, but they have to be placed into a "v" shape in order to fit.

heres my MB7, its got an AC500 fuge and a currentUSA 20" 40w PC fixture that was cut down to 17.25" so it doesnt hang off the sides.

Aragonite approx 1.5in deep
few peices of Very old rock.
Ac20 filter

1 blue leg hermit
1 turbo snail

Green/purple tip frog spawn
Yellow Polyps
Green skirt, yellow mouth zoo's
Bright Red/purple mouth zoo's
green stripe shroom
Bright Red shroom
Red Ric Yuma shroom (which has about 9 small baby yuma's on same rock)

Hmm... think this mod would be "flexible" enough to do for my Minibow 7? It's still sitting in the box as I ponder how motivated I am to attempt building a canopy. This clip on light could make my life so much easier, lol.

Here's my deconstructed 7G 'bow. It has since been torn down.
It was running for nearly 2 years, but due to LRS (lazy reefer syndrome) it perished.
It was on a closed loop with a SCWD and a mag 5. There was also a CPR fuge HOB. The Hood was custom DIY from plywood and housed 32w PC and a 70W MH.
