Well it seems with all the coral I have been accumulating lately I managed to pick up some bugs too. I never even considered the need to quarantine coral and would not have known what to look for if I had. So, if you have gotten Acropora lately and not quarantined, find out what red bugs look like and see if you got them. :( Also, if you don't already, look in to quarantining your new corals

I have been freshwater dipping all of mine..you wouldn't believe how many critters are on the frags and in the rock.

Have you seen any loss of color after you dipped them?

How long do you dip yours?

I thought corals in freshwater was a big no-no.

you can also use just a few drops of iodine. there are also dips made by kent, seachem, do some research.

I have used an Interceptor dip (2-10 or more times the recommended concentration) for somewhere between 6 and 24 hours with good results. I use more and dip longer if I see bugs. I have seen several people that I respect on the sps board use this method with good results as well. I also put them in my frag tank so I can watch them for a couple of weeks before I move them into my main system and will usually do another prophylactic dip at that time.

yea, thats the plan from here on out, but I need a solution for the existing bugs in the tank. There is only 1 acrapora w/ visable bugs. I would like to take that 1 out and 'intercept' in a seperate tank. If I can get a hook up on the interceptor. However, given the $70+ price of interceptor, I may take all the acropora out to make sure (montipora seriatopora is not at risk right) but that would be an extra pain.

Here is the only proven method:

Many people have used it with great success including myself.
You would need to remove all acros, keep them in a holding tank when you treat them and keep them out for at least two or three weeks if you wanted to go that route. IMO not worth it AND not a method that has proven to work. Just my 2 cents.
