I read that yellow polyps are strong stingers, as well as fast multipliers. I was going to try to have them grow on back wall of tank so they don't take over (and maybe I won't have to scrape off the coralline so much  ). Will they sting and harm fish who swim or sleep near the back wall?

They are kind of simillar to aipstasia in respect to sting. They are not noxious enough to damage fish or inverts. Seascapes out in Mountain View has ysp on the back of their display tank. IME they are not as fast of a grower as people complain they are. My green star polyps have always grown faster and I have had no problem getting them to grow onto my overflow and back of the tank either.
