GRMAS Meeting Minutes 9-07-05
·Next meeting October 3, 2005 from 7pm-9pm.
·Treasurer Report: $414.00 in club funds (generated from dues and percentage from auctions). Checking account is almost in place, will need all officers to sign documents when they are prepared.
·No one else has volunteered for the Correspondence Secretary position, Scott Yonkers will be filling this position. The duties include: getting leads/ ideas/ contacts with magazine/ paper/ and the community to increase awareness of the club, contacting and possibly booking speakers/ manufacturers/ etc for presentations, sponsorship, and possible discounts for the club.
·Discussed group order and anyone interested in participating in a group order for clean-up crew were to discuss their interest with Scott Yonkers prior to the end of the meeting to set up order. No body present seemed interested in this at this time.
·Discussed desire from club members in developing a mission statement, there was very little interest at this time. Will hold on a mission statement until there appears to be more interest in developing this.
·The Marine Aquarium Society of Michigan is having a meeting in March with speakers/ raffles/ forums/ etc. This is an all day event and has proven to be helpful and fun in the past. If interested please check their website: www.masm.org.
·Auction/ Swap meet: After much discussion and difficulty reserving a place to host this event we have decided to plan to push the event back to a yet undetermined date in February 2006. We are in desperate need to a place to host this event, if anyone has contacts or can help in this please speak up at the next meeting or on the RC website. We are looking for a public facility that can hold a large number of people and tables that will also allow food/ drinks…and of course saltwater. If any body has a lead please bring dates available in February 2006 and estimate of cost to reserve room to the next meeting. We need to determine when and where this will occur before we can go much further with this project. Since this will be our first attempt to get a large group together for this meet we would like to ensure it will be a success, in order for this to occur we will need ample time to plan the event. Several ideas to generate funds for the club have been discussed and will be brought up again after the date and location is set. (selling frag plugs, raffles (certificates for on-line stores, food during event, dry goods, etc), door charge, renting tables, door prizes).

·Discussed questions associated with problems members are having with their tanks: heating/ cooling, sand philosophies, lighting strategies.
