I don't think anyone in the Columbus sells Southdown. Does anyone have a bag they would like to sell?

Thanks,
NorthCoast

Mark,

Are you coming to the April frag trade in Hartville?

They had it here:

Home Depot
6199 Wilson Mills Rd
Highland Heights, OH 44143
(440)684-1343

last spring. You might call and see if they still have it. If you come to the trade maybe you could find someone in that area to pick you up a bag and bring it to the trade.

Mark,

Check in with Frick-n-Frags on this. I told Jeff about that HD a while back. I'm not certain were he lives, but he indicated then he"d stop in to get some if they still had it. Sounded to me like it wasn't an inconvient location for him to visit.

Let me know if they have it and someone can pick some up - I wouldn't mind having a couple bags myself but hate to drive that far just for that.

I checked in Dayton and they don't have it there (Col Glenn near the AFB) so if you're looking there don't waste your time.

Don't know if you are all still looking but there is a pallet of SD in my HD in Cranberry Twp, PA. That's exit 3 on our turnpike right across the border, couldn't be that long of a drive.

Python,

I'll actually be in the area in a few weeks... I'm originally from the Youngstown/Warren area and my family still lives in Ohio about 5min. inside the Ohio/Penn border... I'll have to check it out.

Thanks!

Mark,

This summer I am planning on getting rid of my 7 year old plenum sand bed and installing a DSB. I don't know how big your car is but I need Southdown sand as well.

Guys - I am on the east coast (with my vehicle) for another day or so. If I see any at the stores I'll grab a bunch of bags for you guys.

You guys owe me BIG!!

My back is throbbing. I went to the local HD and found 3 pallets of Southdown. I did some quick math and figured my 12 yr old (175K miles) SUV could handle about 1,000lbs of extra load for the 600 mile trip home. Then the guy told me I had to drag it all the way through the store because the pickup area wasn't open. After pushing 1/2 a ton of sand 3/4 of the way through the store I got checked out and then got it out and (after a break or two) got it all in the truck. Now the front end rides a little high, but I think I'm going to be okay.

Anyway, I'll be back in town this weekend and ready to distribute this to those of you interested. It looks like NorthCoast, Mantis and Cone9 are interested. I think Henry (Phoenix) may have also mentioned he need a little. My plan is to allow you guys 18 of the 20 bags and I'll keep the remaining 2 for myself.

I'm not sure what I'm going to ask for them, I'll see how my gas milage is on the way home and such and then let you know. Maybe somebody can let me know what they think is reasonable. Price per bag was a almost $4.50/bag after taxes etc...

1st priority is going to those of you who have alread requested some, then to Columbus Reef Club folks.

Wish me luck on the return trip.

Stan,

I'd like 2 or 3 bags, but feel free to put me low on the list. I'll not need it for a couple years, so be sure anyone with a more urgent need gets theirs first.

Will you coming to the frag trade in April (at Dale's)? If so, and there is sand for me, could you bring it there?

Let me know, Dave

Just remembered they are 50 pound bags, not 25, I only need two.

Thanks again,

Okay folks, I'm back in town and will be ready to do the handoff this weekend if anyone wants sand. If you email me at stan@griffis.com we can arrange an exchange. If any of you have experience with battling hair algae, expect to be asked to come in and offer ideas on my tank. Since the frag swap the whole system has gone in the toilet. I've gradually lost virtually every coral I own including the ones I got at the swap. Hair algae is all over the place and I'm so frustrated I'm considering pitching it all.

Anyway.....

Email me and we can set up a time to come over and retrieve the sand.

Stan,

I sent you an email...

Brad,

I could pick up your sand at the same time and save you a trip?
