Congratulations Barrett and Susan

Barrett and Susan Shumaker had a baby boy Tuesday. 8 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/4" long. Everyone is happy and healthy, but the new little Shumaker is nameless.
Completely assured that their baby would be a girl, Barrett and Susan never even thought about boys names...and Barrett says they won't name the new little guy Vivian (which would have been the baby's name had it been a girl). I say we suggest names for the new baby to help Barrett and Susan out.

My suggestion is Richard.
Not only is it a good, strong name, but it is always good to name your baby after the (real) father.

I say go with Vivian. He might become a world renowned medical researcher (Vivian Thomas.)

Hey all. I'm just getting home for the day to check the tank and mail and what-not. Well The baby is now named. Merrick Marshall Shumaker. Susan liked Merrick because it kind of rhymes with mine. It was either Merrick or Quinton and Merrick won out.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and calls. I'll get a pic on the net here in a bit. If anyone was aware that Bruce Campbell was in town yesterday for a book signing I got permission from the little woman to go. Hes a really nice and funny guy in person. He even sent Susan a get well/congratulations message! Wee! Bruce... your my hero!

Well folks, we're home as of tonight. All I can say is that this one is nothing like the last one. Xander wasn't anything to worry about. He ate good and slept good and was really alert. This one is worrying me. He sleeps all the time and doesn't eat really well. I'm probably just worrying too much but when their that small...
I'm hoping to come to Jackson tomorrow. I'll make the rounds and hit up Dave and Craig for booty (now now, calm yourself Dave, its not that kind of booty).:eek2:

8 lbs 8 oz is a nice healthy size. Consider yourself blessed that he's sleeping a lot now and hope it lasts. :)

I sure wouldn't worry yet at his size.

Thanks for the well wishes you two. Xander is 17 months older. He's really still kind of dismissive of Merrick. Hes seen the baby laying on the ottoman and us holding him, but he's still not doing anything that would tell me that he's realized that Merrick's a permamnent addition. I think he'll be just fine with this.
