Try your local hardware store.

Know what they cost or around what they would cost? I need to frag my green star polyps. I got them a month or so ago and they are already growing like crazy.

I will give you a small hint when buying one. The Sears Craftsman is the same as the Dremel brand but cost a little less. You will be looking around $60 - $70 for a 40 or 50 piece kit. BTW you do not need a dremel to frag GSP. All you need is a razor blade to cut the mat with.

I tried the mat thing and it didn't work. I cut the mat, but the mat wouldn't lift off the rock. I just want to cut a small end of the rock off. If you know an ideas on how to lift the mat up let me know. :)

You could also chisel a piece of the rock off with a hammer and screwdriver (unless you have a chisel of course).

BTW what is the ADHDreefer Club?

Hey at least you can recognize your own weaknesses, or strengths depending on how you look at it I guess. :)

:) I'm on the edge of being banned on more then one forum :) This is the only one that I keep somewhat out of trouble. There has been a couple of times that someone got peed off at me because I told them how I feel about the stupid thing they did or said :D It's amazing when people ask for your opinion and when they don't like what you have to say then you're a bad person. There is just so much butt kissing that goes on in these forums that it sometimes makes me sick.

I find myself thinking the same thing some times. People say and ask dumb things sometimes. Usually I type out everything I want to say and by the time I'm done typing it's all out of my system and I erase the message and just go with the  or the  .

Andrew, as long as your glass isn't too thick Menards has a 20 piece diamond bit set, "Tool Shop" brand for Dremel and similar tools I used one of and a "Dremel" brand router foot on my Craftsman rotary tool. 3/8" is about the maximum depth you can cut with these bits (what do you expect for $6.00?).
I did mine in the driveway and ran a dribble of water on the bit while cutting, it goes pretty slow but works great.
DO NOT USE AN ELECTRIC TOOL AND WATER TOGETHER UNLESS YOU'RE USING A GFCI RECEPTACLE !!!!!!!!

What I like is how the mod edited my post to the point of where you cant really see what I said. You have to believe that I said nothing wrong other then defend myself when the guy started calling me names for asking where he is located. I took the problem to a higher up power here on RC :)

It's gonna be tough to cut a round hole in a piece of glass with a wheel... I'll try to post pics of what I have tonight.

Andrew, Sorry I took so long here are the bits I used and some others so you get the idea. I bought the whole set of bits at Menards for under 6 bucks. If you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
Crap I don't know how to post the pics just look at my gallery, you'll get the idea.... :D

Nice work hllywd. Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to drill each hole. And can you describe your method please? Thanks!

BTW Andrew the round pieces of glass are what I cut out of the 10, I traced a circle with a Sharpie and freehanded the cut.

hllywd
08/24/2005, 10:15 PM
selgado,
I can't say for sure on the time but at least 2 or 3 minutes per cut, it's kind of slow.
Make sure your glass isn't tempered first, then use a permanent marker to trace the hole you want to cut.
Plug the Dremel into a GFCI receptacle first so you don't electrocute yourself. Have a hose handy to dribble a little water on the bit as you cut for lubricant and to keep the bit cool. Begin with the water running and make a plunge cut into the glass inside your intended circle, cut out to the line then follow it till the hole is completed. As you can see in the pictures the holes I cut weren't perfectly round and they don't have to be perfect but once the main hole is cut you can test fit the bulkhead and go back and clean your cut up a little to make it fit. Its better to cut a little small first since you can't add glass back in.:D

Got the rest of the stuff I need. Now im ready to drill. :) Cost like $10 for all that.

Andrew

Got it drilled and installed. Now i just have to get it in the right spot on the stand and then have it drain into the sump.
