Dear Frank,

I just wanted to thank you for all the information you have provided for the hobby for this wonderful fish. It has helped me successfully raise two batches of fry so far.

Is there any risk with breeding a pair of banggai's that were from the same batch? I have a pair that are inseperable (but not fully matured yet), but was wondering if there are any risks with their offspring. If so, I will search out someone to trade either the male or female with.

Hi:
Thanks for the kind words. That was my intention when i wrote these articles, and I'm glad you found them useful.

Can I recommend you do a search here in the breeders forum for just your question (inbreeding). We had a long discussion about inbreeding in these fish, and the end reuslt is we have seen stunted animals and twisted spine fry as well.

So it can happen the question is whether it will happen to yours or not.. I dont' know

Its always better to exchange offspring w/ your friends or LFS and get new blood
my opinion
