oh ok! Well i will probally be stopping in tommorow (tues) but i am not positive. I was in cape coral today and i checked that store out over there and it was terrible. The guy working didnt even say hi to me when i walked in, which was pretty rude. Also it is very cluttered and they dont have a very good selection. Plus it costed me a $1 to get on and off. I would not recommend this store to anyone!!

Which store did you go to? Where? There are two very nice stores in CC, both owned by the same folks.

Really, i went to the one off of corondo(SP) did not like that store at all. What does he owner look like, because the guy that didnt even act like i was there was a middle age guy probally around 50's and if that is him he should not own a store. I was very disappointed.

If you are in Cape Coral,
try the other store, 231 DelPrado (Between Pine Island Rd and Hancock) next to Ledos pizza. Much larger store.

George, who owns the store is very friendly- 30ish and speaks with an accent. His wife is also very nice.

Oh no this guy looked older than 30's! but i dont know his accent because he didnt say a word to me.

Well i visited two fish stores and was pretty happy with what i saw. They are not like the store back at home that i worked at but very nice. I went to Ocean Env. and they had some nice things there, not much of a variety but nice stuff. But i wish they would get that big tank clean and some fish and corals in it. Anyone know how big it is? It looks like 700gal. to me, but not positive. Then i went to Boardroom Aquatics and was very pleased. They had a very big selection. The store was very cramped and needs to be organized a little. They had some nice corals though. They also had a Octupus for $35 that I am very interested in getting for my 24gal nano once i figure out everything with JBJ. Was a great day of fish store looking. If you guys know of anymore please inform me.
Thanks

I haven't been in Boardroom in awhile. I found them too high and not sure about their quality, honestly.

Jason and Chris are top notch, even if Jason won't give in on something I really want. :)

George is ok. He's not super outgoing. His wife is very nice. My favorite over there is Jeff. He and I get along great. (He's there on Mondays and Fridays.) (You'll get used to pitching 4 quarters in the basket. Wait until you decide to go over to Sanibel.) George owns the place on Del Prado, too--Cape Coma. John runs it, but he has the personality of a parking meter. Nice, but knows nothing about customer service.

Saltwater Solutions is terrific, but we've noticed Fernando's prices have been struggling upward in the past couple of months. He had some incredible bargains, but not so much now. I don't know why the difference.

Hopefully, we can get a real club going and get some frags and stuff.

Also, if you guys would like to make a road trip, we'll go up to Tarpon Springs and introduce you to Mike at Triton Marine and Tampa to see Rich at TBS for some live rock.

Go check out Board room it is nice. cramped but very nice corals. Yeah when i asked them about what kind the Octupus was they had no clue, i worked at a LFS back at home the specie type is right on the paper they send with the box of stuff, i mean come on.

Now jason and chris are from Ocean Env.? If so they had a nice store, it was a nice size but i would love to see that big tank get up and get some life in there.

Now where is Saltwater Solutions?

Yeah i would love to get some guys together and go check these places out. I would say i would drive but i have a 05 stang and only 2 people can fit in there, sorry!! We will all have to get together one weekend or something and go.

Go to saltwatersolutionsaquarium. They have a decent web site with a map. I've known Fernando for over two years. honest, decent, knowledgeable guy. His stuff usually comes in on Wed. ;he has a GREAT selection. Rich, the owner of Boardroom is a good guy too. He's never hesitated looking up things for me.

No offense to him or anyone else but is he the one that talks a little weird?

It looks like a great store from the pictures. How far of a drive is it from Ft Myers?

Dawn II
08/10/2005, 04:11 PM
Only if you think someone from Puerto Rico with an accent talks weird.

That was George, no doubt.

torchstang05
08/10/2005, 08:25 PM
Oh yeah he ws nice, i was a little upset that they could not tell me what kind of octupus they had there.

So what do you guys think of getting an octupus for my 24gal nano. Or should i stick to my jellyfish idea?

Also if you are ever in the Naples area come check out Ocean Environments second location. I am right on the corner of Pine Ridge and 951. 4075 is the address. It is about a 35 min drive from our shop in Ft. Myers. Lots more room and alot more livestock. I am usually always here. My name is Dustin. Stop in and introduce yourself! Also for a map you can check www.oceanenvironments.net

I have been to all of them and without question George and his crew have been consistently the best (Coronado store and Del Prado store). The older guy is very nice, I am sorry I can't remember his name. He gives you space and does not do the power sell thing. A lot of these places have their quarks, but if you slow down and look into each place you will see my point. Check out George's place on a Friday.

Oh, by the way.....No offense intended, but I have been at this salt water thing probably longer than you have been alive and hope you the best. Just try to stay open minded

No affiliation, benefit, blah, blah, blah.

Oceans Evvironment is S of Edison Mall. The one I am thinking about is in N Ft Myers off old 41......if you are coming from punta Gorda take old US 41 South, past the shell factory about 1 mile and then on the left side of old 41 there is a sw lfs

Ladybug, do you mean the one next to winn dixie in weavers corner. if so ewwwwww. they have pretty good prices, but the people are rude, and dont know what they are doing. I went in there to but premixed water, and the lady started taking it out of her tanks. i said wait a minute, i want fresh premix, and she said that they only sell out of thier tanks. oh my god. i told her i didnt want her dirty tank water, and she looked at me like i was nuts.
I have bought a few crabs from them, but every time i go in, they are rude to me, so i stay away.

yes boardroom aquatics is very nice.....a bit over crampt, and a bit over priced on alot of his stuff. Rich has plenty of my money over the years, both b4 and after my move to Quebec.

I was doing a 411.com check and there a place called Glass Oceanjust north of edison mall have you been there?

hey Aqua, how much is your live rock per lb. I am going to be setting up the 24gal nano with a snowflake eel and either a niger or picasso trigger ( TINY ones ) so for my rock work i am thinking of doing a lot of like 1-2lb pieces. lets say 10-15lbs of it how much per lb would it be. Also live sand how much for a bag? thanks dude!

Aquarist20
10/06/2005, 02:52 PM
The live rock in Ft. Myers will range between $5.50 & $7.00 per lb. What I carry down here runs between $5.50 & $8.00 per lb. The live sand is like $26.99 per 20lb bag.
