Henry, do you think there would be any aggression problems adding a dottyback to a 140 gal reef tank which already has a resident royal gramma?

yes, there will be aggression to begin with. it will most likely subside as time goes by, though. depends on many factors...

when first introduced the ball will lay in the grammas court. depending on your gramma, the orchid may have a hard time. luckily i doubt the gramma could inflict much if any damage to dottyback. dottybacks are better, more agile swimmers and i doubt the gramma could catch it. but it will try.

once established, the dottyback will turn the table. at this point the ball lays with the dottyback. will the dottyback make it's presence felt but leave it at that? or will it attack until the gramma is no more?

only one way to find out...

ps - i'd rip out the gramma and get 2 orchids ;)

Thanks for the info, Henry. Which dottybacks would you condider? Any that should be avoided?

did you read my article? :o

stick with the orchids or springers. both are available captive bred.
