Meeting next week!!

Well guys and gals it’s that time again. Yes another month has passed and it is time for our next meeting. This months meeting will be the famous BARE prop / frag meeting, so bring your coral to hack up and share with your fellow members. Remember if you are not a BARE member we charge $5 per frag. This is one of three meetings we have per year, when membership will pay for itself in one night. We will be having a short presentation on propagation and fragging coral’s so bring your stories, and tips with you. Tropical Paradise has once again been generous enough to give us a place to have the meeting; they are also donating the salt water and the mounting rock. It would be nice if someone would volunteer to bring in rubber bands and glue. For those of you who don’t have it, here is Tropical Paradise’s address and driving instructions:

Take the MARINA BLVD EAST exit. 0.24 miles

I'll bring some stuff I have lying around - 1 or 2 tubes super glue, a bit of small plastic netting from flower bulb bags, several "fish" bags and nametags.

I have a few frags to bring this time - one brown/green Sarcophyton (toadstool), a couple light Caulastrea (candy cane), one maroon Cladiella (finger leather) and a few what I think are tiny Pseudocorynactis (Fiji type corallimorphs w/ clear tentacles) that grow pretty fast (p. 323 ReefAq vol. 2), if anyone likes them.

Note to people who got frags of Matthew's zoanthids in Oct: What color are they now? They looked blue-violet in his tank, but in mine are brownish and fluorescent orange w/ green centers! Lighting difference, I guess. Just wondered what others found.

I havn't joined BARE yet although I am thinking about it. My only hesitance is that i'm only 13. I know some people around my age came last time but still. I wouldnt have any frags to bring to the next meeting so would there be any point in me comming??

I think there will be some good information available about coral propagation, and you can see how we do the frag meetings. I say come and learn something.

Elliot, please come on by. And this goes for all those who feel uncomfortable coming if they don't bring any cuttings in. Please, please come anyway. There is always enough cuttings for everyone. This is all about sharing. At some point down the road you will be able to contribute your own corals based on your successful tanks.

My name is Dane and I'm 13 too and I don't have any frags to bring either. (Sadly) But I am going anyways. I am a paid member so will be getting some corals. All clippings are $5 if you aren’t a paid member. Hope to see you their.
