Hi everyone,

I Just acquired what the LFS calls a Yellow Coris Wrasse. He's doing well so far, with one little problem.
He sleeps late.

He misses the morning feeding, but catches the late afternon one. Is this normal behaviour for these guys? It's not a monumental problem, but I don't see him before I go to work. Over the weekend I noticed he'd come out around 1-2 in the afternoon. I shut the tank lights off around 7pm, so he really doesn't get much in the way of "swimming time." Shortly after lights out, he goes into the sand.

Is this sleep cycle typical of these fish?

Thanks,
Hemmie

Hi Hemmie

Call it "jet lag" :). The wrasse's internal clock is probably still set to his old home. As time passes, he will adjust to the new environment and his internal clock will be on your time zone. I have a leopard wrasse that took almost 2 months before he was out more than a couple of hours a day. Now he is adjusted to the time change, and is out most of the day.
