I'm sure your fish is on this page somewhere if you want another reference. http://uri.sakura.ne.jp/~dd/g/einfn1.htm I couldn't find him by common name though...

Thats my favorite fish too. I don't have much luck with them though. I've had two so far and both have contracted ick within a few weeks of getting them from the LFS. They didn't respond well to treatment. I'm kind of scared to get another one. They are such cool fish. Does anyone know if you can have more than one in a tank??

HSC3,

where did you get that fish at? i have been looking for them for quite a while? are they similar to barnical gobies?

Paul

they are available captive bred by ORA. they were out of stock for awhile, but i've got another dozen coming in next week so i'm sure they replenished their stocks. your LFS should be able to order them in for you without problems. i'm not sure if they are available anywhere else besides ORA.

they might be similiar to barnicle gobies - if there was such a thing :p

i'm sure you mean barnicle blennies. if this is the case, i really have no idea. i've never kept any barnicle gobies/blennies.

gobies, blennies, what's the difference ;)

paul, i highly recommend you track these down. get a pair or more (can be kept in groups). they will spawn about every 3 weeks. they are very outgoing when mixed with other small fish.

this is also a great opportunity to get your LFS stocking captive bred fish and animals. ORA has a plethora of dottybacks available, along with captive bred clams and captive propped SPS.

Hey HC do you own a store? Is that how you got them from ORA? Are you selling them?

hcs3
02/09/2002, 12:30 PM
no, i do not own a store nor am i affliated with ORA in any manner. i am not selling any, yet. when i do they will be captive bred by me.

my LFS orders them for me.

FWIW, they can't be much $$$ at all. my LFS gives me really good prices, but on this one i was blown away. he is charging $10 per fish. assuming he has to make some profit, at the absolute maximum the fish are costing him wholesale $9 or less. i presume closer to $5 or 6, though. if you would like to know what they cost wholesale, i'm sure he would tell me. however, he is at national guard for the weekend so it wouldn't be until monday that i could get the info.

I just got this little guy, but I think he is my favorite right now. My favorite was a Rainfords gobie, but he taken out by CBS a year or two ago:( If I ever get a Hefrichi firefish that will probably be my favorite;)

Cool, Thanks for the ID, this one is in my soft coral tank, but like you said hes like a little copter perching on everything. I have a green clown gobie in my 75 with sps and he is the acro percher. Awesome little fish :D

Doctors Foster & Smith have these and lots of other cool fish at http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?siteid=21&pcatid=15 . I just ordered a pair of the redhead gobies. They even have baracuda, pinecone fish and other cool fish. Their shipping is expensive unless you order alot.

Henry,
Have you had any success with your breeding yet? (the fish;)) How many multifactiatums do you have now? Do you have any red heads? I've had mine for around six months to a year in a 120, but they tend to stay at opposite ends of the tank. So I probably have two males or two females, do you think it would be safe to add a few more?
Thank you,
Gareth

PS anyone ever see these in their LFS :)

Have you had any success with your breeding yet?

yes, great success breeding. i never attempted to raise them, though. the tank was filled with fry roughly every 3 weeks. this time around i will be trying to raise them along with many other species.

How many multifactiatums do you have now?

0. i am suppose to be getting a bunch this week from the LFS. he is placing his ORA order tomorrow for delivery later in the week. he is not a MO supplier and rarely ships any livestock, but he might be willing to ship some of them around the country if anyone is interested.

Do you have any red heads?

currently, 2. hopefully more soon. i just got them last week. i had a pair spawning for me early last summer, but they died along with the multifaciatums and 90% of everything else during my honeymoon (long story). i took a few months off and now i'm starting to restock.

do you think it would be safe to add a few more?

depending on your current fish load, i'd say you could comfortably add 200 more in a 120g with no problems ;) seriously though, i have seen 20g tanks that contained close to 20 of these guys with no aggression amongst the inhabitants. keeping a dozen or so in a 120g should be no problems.

OK, Henry. I'll bite. When I walk into the store and ask James to order two of the Gobisoma Multifactiatums for me, what common name do I use? I don't want him to freak and go running for the books to figure this one out!:D

green banded gobies.

hopefully he still has one or two left from the last order. i'm not sure if ORA will be selling anymore...

At our LFS they're called "Lime-stripe gobies". I'm just happy that I now know the scientific name for them, and a little bit about them.
