After many requests we are proud to announce the very first SEABay sponsored frag swap!

We invite anyone interested in both the marine hobby as well helping to make it more self-sufficient by encouraging the local propagation and exchange of corals.

Along with the frag swap we will be having a major raffle and we hope a heck of a good time. If you wish, feel free to bring a picnic lunch, as the site we have reserved for the swap is ideal for an afternoon outing with the whole family.

Swap participation requirements:

To participate in the frag swap you need to be member of SEABay or other recognized marine hobbyist club (MARS, BAR, etc.), membership IDs will be checked so please have your ID handy. For those clubs without IDs we will need a recent membership list that verifies your status or you will have to become SEABay member to participate.
memberships will be available at swap for $20 individual or $25 for family.
If you do not bring at least one frag for the swap there will be an additional $10 entry fee.

Swap preparation:

For those of you bringing frags please double bag them to minimize potential losses during transport to and from swap
We also request that you label each bag with frag name (genus/species if known otherwise generic common name), a short description (e.g., pink body with green polyps) and lighting/circulation conditions kept (e.g., high/med/low). For those of you who can provide a printed picture of the mother colony it would be greatly appreciated.
Those planning to participate in the swap should try to get to the site no later than 11:00 am to guarantee a spot in the rotation with the actual swap starting no later than 12:00 pm.
It is also recommended that you bring a cooler or some container to hold and safely transport any critters you come away with.

Swap procedure:

We will divide the frags up into various tables and types (e.g., soft corals, hard corals, etc).
As folks sign in they will be divided into different groups of no more than ten and then these groups will be chosen at random to make their first specimen selection and this will continue till all groups have made their initial selections after which we will reverse the order for a second round and so on till all specimens are gone.
Each round will be limited to no more than 5 minutes/group for frag selection (one frag/person/round) and only a person registered for that group may participate in that round to minimize confusion (i.e., no selection assistance from others not in your group).
No browsing frag tables other than for the “current group once the swap starts to prevent confusion and impediments to the group selecting at any given time.

Raffle details:

Raffle tickets will be available that day at the swap at 7 for $5.
The raffle itself will be held no later than 2:00 pm and you must be present to win anything.

Raffle sampler:

Site details:

Please see Flood Park web site referenced earlier for more details and directions but be aware that entry into Flood Park is $5 per vehicle so if you can car pool with someone it will help reduce this cost.
No hard liquor is allowed in the park but beer and wine are OK.
