One of the LFS's here in Houston had some of those exact clams in this past weekend. I saw them and immediately asked what they were. He owner said they are maxima's and from Vietnam. They are a very cool color pattern and mine has a bit more striping that this pic. Very cool clams, of course I had to get one. It acclimated well and is extending nicely.

It is a maxi clam. From what I'm told it is from Vietnam. I have a yellow one on order. The camera I have is a g1 power shot.
I bet the clam looks great in your tank. When would you like to trade again? I'm anytime ready anytime you are. I'm glad every likes the picture.

Sue,

I'm in Houston also, but I missed those clams. Can you let me in on your"secret" place?

Thanks,

Mark

Portland Reefer, I agree these are the wildest colored clams I've seen. Very, very cool. I'm ready to trade whenever you are.

Overboard, Mark. check out Fish World, John the owner almost always has nice clams in. He is at Synott and Bellaire Blvd. He had 3 of these Vietnamese clams, Hreef and myself took 2 so I think he had 1 left. $35.00, who could pass that up.

Thanks Sue,

I know who you are talking about. He always has great prices on LPS and Soft corals, and I have seen a few Maximas, but never anything like these. VERY cool. I'll have to try him tomorrow.

Darn thing is I almost went there Saturday, but decided to get caught up on chores!!!

Thanks again!

Mark

Very cool clam. I have never seen any clams like that in NC. Do you know how I might get in touch with the fish stores you named. I would like to add one of those clams to my tank. you can e-mail me @ docwells@bellsouth.net.
Thanks

Sue and I both got one. Mine is the twin of yours. John had a total of 4. I was in his store about 3 weeks ago, saw all 4. He had just gotten them in. This past weekend Sue and stoped by his store and he had 3 left. I was over at Planet Fish on Stella Link. Sean had about 8 maxie's, about 2 1/2 inches and about 4 squamosa's same size. One of the maxie's was the patteren of the Vietnam clam. They sure are cool clams. Good Luck, hope you found one. Holly

I'll try John's first. Hope he still has one. They are very nice!!! I'll go check out Sean's if not. He's just a little much at times.

Thanks again ,
