I am happy to report thatI have a friend that has just bred a pair of black widows(Stygnobrotula latibricola). These fish are very hard to even get eating and keep in captivity due to the fact they are parasite eaters.I can't wait to see if he can get the babys eating.

I thought I read somewhere that the parents feed the young with special mucus on their flanks --sort of the way some freshwater cichlids do. Or is my memory faulty?

Not sure.I didn't get to talk to him that long on the whole process. The female hasn't had birth yet.Alls I know is he collected about 5 or 6 total.Traded the best pair to Julian and before he returned the rest back to the wild two paired up and the female is looking like she is carrying. We will see how it goes.
