Well another Sunday out shopping with only good things to say. I am waiting on two more powerheads with those new rotating flow heads but in the mean time my wife and I made the rounds like clock work.

Earlier this week we went out to CR and got water and they had a really cool mushroom rock with an unidentified neon green encrusting coral growing on it. Today we spent some time at AO and came really close to getting something but we held off knowing we would be back on Thursday for the medusa water testing. Ended the day over at Keckles new shop on 71 street Reef Revolutions. Ok I admit it we were jonesing for a coral fix and couldn't leave without scoring a really nice little monti and for good measure we bought a really nice iridescent blue crocea.

Tulsa is blessed by a large group of people in this hobby. Every club meet is fun and insightful. I also feel we are double blessed by LFS market that is growing and eager to win our business as consumers. My hat goes of to Jared and Jason over at RR for going above and beyond the point of sale.

Just my .02

I might have to drop by that shop on Friday when Im in town. Where is it and when does it close?

It's on the north side of 71st east of Sheridan. It's in the small shopping center behind Senor Tequila's. There's no big sign for them yet.

jokeloma, RR has the FLO attachments for powerheads. UR usually does but I didn't see any last time I was in there.

Is it in Corals and Reefs old place?

Nope, that's the wrong side of Sheridan. It's near Yale cleaners.

Thanks for the heads up, but I received my new maxijet 1200's and matching flo attachments today via ups and they work like a champ with our 2 600 seios. I'm not real sure of the placement yet but they are in and working.

They said the Mcs had gotten the other crocea I'm glad to hear its doing fine ours is to.

What are these flow attachments you've got for your maxijets?

They're "Hydor Flo"s I bet. They are an awesome little addition to anyone using powerheads. I've even seen people use them on their returns. I believe Shane from Ultimate Reefs has one on his Nano Cube return.

Way freaking cool. This hobby has far too many gadgets associated with it.... :)

But they are all so fun.... I personally LLOOVVEE my Hydor Flo. It's a little bulky, and it decreases flow a lot, but having it be able to spread out and move is priceless. I have 2 MaxiJet 1200s and only one has the Hydor Flo. On one side opposite of the Hydor Flo I get a little cyanobacteria, but on the side opposite of the basic MJ1200 it's cyanobacteria-less. So there are pros and cons about the Flo, but I think it's worth it. Even if you already have some form of wavemaker box that switches your powerheads or returns or SCWD or whatever, having that extra attachment on it is that much funner (Is "funner" even a word?).

Yep he's right thats what I got and they do help a bunch. I have both mine mounted upside down on the glass brace facing each other in the middle of the tank. I got them online for 11.99ea and they come with little rubber adapters for different power heads.

Is that a pop bottle top that I see on your plumbing there?

jokeloma
06/01/2005, 07:10 PM
yep, it's hooked to a small power head that pumps water into my igloo ice chest fuge that sits just slightly higher where the water can gravity flow back in on the other side. The pop bottle allows me to take only the surface water to the fuge.

The fuge is in "ajoining" room. I call it the ghetto setup but it's worked real well for me.

Oh yea the main benefit is no chance of an overflow power goes out the pump stops and the fuge empties only slightly

With all the possible life forms that could be in it, maybe it's a good thing you can't see in there :worried:
