View Full Version : Anybody want to go seining tomorrow?

I have the day off, a sein net, and low tide from Englewood to Sarasota is between 1 and 2 pm. There are some nice flats behind Casperson beach and I've seined successfully behind a public beach in the middle of Manasota Key road (don't know the name of that beach).

My only concern is that parking might be tight on Memorial day.

I've been informed that going to the beach tomorrow and actually trying to park would be proof positive that I have advanced senility.

I'll watch the tide tables for a good weekday evening to go seining.

Agu,

I could probably put a couple hours aside tomorrow. Or have you totaly decided against it? I dont know the holiday crowded areas yet. Caspersen sound nice. If you've gotten bad crowd forcasts there, then what about the area at the end of Lido that I posted in the Sein #2 thread? Its supposed to be in a No Swimming area.

If you think it best to wait, I'll rely on your judgment.

Jim was right about parking, at Venice beach at 11 am people were already parking two blocks away.

About 4:00 I went to Caspersens. No Red Tide, no gagging, no dead fish.

I took a walk around and went to the canoe launch that Agu mentioned. The tide had come in a bit, but it looks like a cool place. Just looking in I saw a few small crabs, a live 4" conch and lots of gobbies.

I did hear that the Red Tide is up near bradenton and Sarasota.

I found the grass flats by the Ringling bridge in my Wave Runner that weekend! The FWC found me, too. Freakin' confusing no-wake/slow/25mph signs.
