I've been running dual 250w hqi and 440w VHO super actinics since the beginning of this tank. The high light stuff does well in the upper half of the tank and my lps and zoas do well in the bottom half.

Forgot to mention 10k
20k is too blue for me. I think 10k gives truer colors. If I turn off the actinics. My corals have the same color as the do without actinics.

With the light though, It can be touchy to get that right color and growth. It seems that with 250w 20k mh and aqua blue t5's the growth is great but the stunning colors is different from vho's with metal halide. or just vho even, I've seen awsome colors.

not to say the mh t5 combo is bad at all. But it does make me wonder what'd make it better.

If that birds nest above is the same kind I have (though a frag) then I need to to something to get that hot pink color. Mine's more of a pink-fuzzy-cream. Hhmmm?

The birdsnest is not like any i've seen around here. It doesn't grow in thin branches like most i've seen and it definitely the most pink i've seen personally. It grows in a ball like shape. I would probably say your birdsnest is not the same as the one I have.

This is the coolest hobby Ive ever associated myself with. Ill be very happy when my tank has more to look at. However I can stare at it for hours and all it has are 2 fish a couple craps and snails

The key word being "dotted" :confused: ;)

Just got my 1st sps from Lazyreefer. Looking forward to the learning experience and hopefully the enjoyment of seeing them fill in my barren, "not quite as dotted as Paul`s", tank.
