Demose's reef (http://morelweb.com/demose)

ok all.. from the last meeting i took home a slimer frag from kmag.. and while in the dish it extened it polyps.. so i did a test and mounted it to a smaller rock (easily moved) and set it just an 1 above the sandbed... well to my surprise its still extending not much but it still is.. so now the confusion goes back to the fish.. is it the fish that causes these to not extend... is so wierd that one would and another wouldnt.. but my other question is could it be bulbs... being worn out? im at a loss here

any thoughts??:):eek1:

It's the clown gobies, for SURE!!! They will not kill the coral-but WILL eat what polyps they like.If you remove them, the polyps will grow back...this is from my personal experience...

I never thought of that. I have had a clown gobie for months now. Now I'm a bit woried myself. I guess one small clown gobie in a small forest of sps wont hurt.

Keith- you are correct. In a forest of SPS you are safe and that explains why Tropicorium in Detroit has them in the big SPS vats.I think a big hungry HAWKFISH would take them out if it became necessary, but I have not heard of this being done yet...just a biological solution I thought might work.BTW the slimer from you is great, along with the rest of the corals.A BIG THANKS- Gary

I purchased a mated pair of Clown Gobies about a month ago and all they did was munch my polyps. I caught the 1 and took it back and the other was found spewed on by a fire worm in the middle of the night. It was sad at first but then I thought it was kind of cool the way this worm hunts and kills its prey.

Nice Pic Keith. Got one like that, couple of years old. Last time I got a bug pack from Inland I brought the scanner home from work - slapped one of those puppy's down on there and did a Hi-Res scan. Looks about the same. Neat seeing all the details and how small their arms/appendages are.
