Those are some awsome pics! I've never seen a BTA with pink tips tike that. And the close up of the clowns against the green carpet (I assume) is cool.

thanks Jared.
Doug- that is one beautiful anemone! i've never seen that pink tip business either... wish it was in my tank :)

BTW, can anyone positively ID this? I'm not certain...

Weird....here it is

Graham- here is an id... "spectacular".
with those light colored tentacles and the purple (?) tips i would lean towards a sebae, but the longish tentacles make me doubt that. i used to have a sebae that on occasion would get long tentacles (see pic) but for the most part they were shorter. do you have any clowns living in it? wanna sell it <g>?

gregr,

My anemone thanks you for the compliment! ;)

It is a weird animal. It resembles a Sebae, but also has characteristics of a long-tentacle, and sometimes a bit like an E.quad. I have 2 tomato or melanopus (they are still too small for me to tell for sure) clowns that go to it, but it also appears they have been stung by it on occasion. I have never seen clowns build a "tolerance" to an anemone, but it appears they are trying.

As for selling, heh heh. I'l tell you what - you can be #2 on the list if it ever splits.

#2? fair enough. who's #1? i'll have Rocko and Louie go make em an offer they can't refuse <g>.
i recently saw a similarly shaped long tentacle but it did not have that cool green body color.

Saved this beaty from a dump of a fish store in Bangkok in 1998 and took it home in plastic bag packed with oxygen and was the pride of my tank for 3 years. The name...Heteractus Aurora. The poor thing died of infection last year and I was depressed for 6 months.

This anemone has split 2 times in three years, but at least it stays in one place.
Could someone ID this for me.

thanks gregr - I've seen your website and your pictures are amazing. Wish my aquarium pics of the clowns were as spectacular and as clear as yours...
And to think I was going to take the clown out because he kept nipping my hands when I was in the tank... he looked so happy when I put the new anemone in (his previous Condy had wandered so I removed it) that he almost did a dance.... so cute, I guess I'll keep him for a while...

this turned up in a nanoreef at my lfs- i have no idea what it is but it's spectacular. i think that's a damsel in the shot- it never left it's spot the whole time i was there.

wow gregr thats a pretty nice anemone! I need to set up a nano just for that! Is that some type of flower anemone? It's hard to judge size, but it almost looks too big to be a flower anemone. Very nice though...:D

neuroracer

P.S. I'm getting ready to pick up a new LTA, not nearly as big as the purple guy I already have, very small in comparison but this guy is brilliant green! My LFS has been on a roll lately!

Here is a picture of my ritteri (Heteractis magnifica). A challenging subject to photograph, due to the sheer enormity of the anemone (about 18" diameter, possibly more) it's hard to get the whole anemone where parts aren't overexposed while other parts underexposed. For perspective, the percs in the picture are 3" and 2.5". You can just make out one of my purple acros peeking in on the left.

Taken on 35mm and scanned. Sorry for the quality of the photo. The photo really does it no justice, it is a really cool colour of bright banana yellow in person. I need to practise photographing this anemone, if I do any better I'll post that picture!

Got this blue carpet (S. haddoni) last night. It went exactly where I wanted (for now). I hope to get more pictures this weekend. http://www.myreefcreations.com/personal/tankpics/carpet day1.jpg

I got it at Under the Wave in Duluth. They were having a 30% off sale for Atlanta Reef Club members. :D They had it in their system for at least 4-5 weeks. Do you get to Atlanta much?
