eel and tang

i have a golden spotted eel in my tank that co-habitates with a purple tang. only problem is, the tang wont let the eel eat with the rest of the tank. if the eel comes out, the tang will try to strike at him.

1. is co-habitation like this normal(they live in the same hole)
2. would i be better trying to break them up?

John, my suggestion to you is that you feed the eel directly with a feeding stick. What are you feeding your eel? Some fresh shrimp fed directly into its mouth might do the trick. Good luck!

thats what ive been feeding him using tongs, but the tang has decided that it likes the shrimp as well :)

try feeding the tang first and while his attention in on his food, direct feed the eel.
