Larry,
That looks like the "idyllic cabin at the lake" that every person dreams of! I hope you and your family had a great time.
Dick :)

Hey Dick--My wife and I enjoy going there very much, but I'm also very glad it belongs to someone else. I've done the cabin thing, it can be a huge ball and chain with the maintenance. It depends on how you view it, I guess. To someone who sits in front of a computer all day at work, I'm sure the manual labor is relaxing. For me, I work with my hands all week long, so at night and on the weekends I want to do something else--like sit in front of a computer. ;)

But I have to admit--my wife and I slept in that tent you see for two nights. With a little rain on the roof and the loons raising a ruckus on the lake, I slept like a baby. :)

Well on my Canada day weekend I added two gorgonians a sally lightfoot and some snails to my reef and I cleaned the slime out of my parents pond. A good time was had by all.

Hi Everyone,

I replaced the crushed coral in my 75g with sand over the weekend. It took about 20 hours but I guess it was relaxing.

Happy 4th to all.

Larry,
I hear what you say about enjoying a cabin if it doesn't belong to you! I've been there and done that and don't ever want a second home again!!! Now my boat, that's a different story!
Happy Fourth,
Dick

Ahh, vacation. I leave for Colorado in a month. I'll probably be heading up to Ouray, renting a jeep, and hitting the 4x4 roads. I may head up to Rocky Mtn. Ntl. Park if the fires didn't get it all. Anyone know about that?

Hi Larry - Looks wonderful!!! I am jealous!!

Saturday - Went to see Coralhound's tanks (beautiful, I might add), met Q-Ball (he's actually quite normal in person - maybe that's because Mrs. Q was there), bought some frags from CH.

Spent Sunday purchasing and setting up the new 29 with my daughter. All the usual fun stuff - lugging 7 gal buckets of saltwater up a flight of stairs, placing LR without cracking the tank, dumping in 40 lb. bag of sand, hooking up skimmer, lights, etc., looking at a big, brown, cloudy mess :). The sweat was rolling but we did not call Fishhub for help at all - he was down working on his new freshwater.

Monday - Rearranged rock in tank :D - went to see The Patriot - fantastic movie - fell asleep in front of the tank ;)

Tuesday - INDEPENDENCE DAY - HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA! Had ribs on the grill then went with Fishhub, Fishkid and THE BOYFRIEND, Fishpoppy, and FishLadyFriend to Small Town, USA (Galesville, MD) to see the annual parade and fireworks. Patriotic music, lots of good food and nice people, and a terrific display.

All in all a great long weekend but I'm really tired right now. I'm getting too old for fun!

Very cool. Nice pics. :) Ahhhhh the great outdoors.

The wife and I just got back from 8 days deep in the woods on Lake Umbagog, NH. Usually, we stay on one of the small islands on the lake, but this year on the shore. On your suggestion, we looked at the Wenonah canoes, and wound up buying one...good tip.

All we had for the week was a couple of backpacks, some topo maps, the canoe, and nothing on the schedule. No roads, phones, electricity, runnning water, e-mail, blah, blah, blah. Bathe in the lake every evening, hike the hills, paddle around, get sunburned, watch the eagle, osprey and moose, listen to the loons, and pretty much have a helluva time.

last year, I spooked a black bear cub on an old trail, and almost wet my pants until I figured out that mother bear was nowhere nearby that I could find.

The black flies and mosquitoes (dragons) were really quite impressive in a scary sort of way this year. ;)

Bigben,

Went to the Rocky Mountain National Park just 2 weeks ago. Awesome place. Couldn't see any damage from fire. Not as much snow as usual this year but still there. Elk are all over those mountains. There were 2 big bucks with massive velvet antlers lying 20 ft from the road. Of course there was a road block pratically from all the cars stopping to look. We had a little light-headedness from the altitude but it was all worth it. The place is awesome!!!

My wife and I are going to the Rockies on vacation later this summer. Where is that Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park? We had thoughts of hitting Glacier--already did the Jellystone scene. :)

Do Yosemite.

Perhaps the single most concentrated collection of spectacular natural wonders ever assembled in one place.

(as you can tell, I was impressed) ;)

Where is the Rocky Mtn Park? Ok I'll try to be as specific as I can. North of Denver. Haha. We went to stay with college friends in Boulder and they drove. If you go, take some bino's. You will see tons of wildlife. Ground squirrel type things all over the rocks, black marmiths (sp?) chewing on the decking, and like I said before, elk all over the hills in the middle of the day. BEAUTIFUL mountains! Of course I am from the east coast. :)

I took the whole week off :) Finally RE-Setup my 125 reef :D get to re plumb it next weekend. Why is it I always get this brillent ideas after it gets setup

Finally got my wife interested in saltwater! She saw a 27" yellow headed moray eel and coughed up the money within minutes so I could setup my old 55gal for it! hehe.. Now the tank is on the wall at the end of the bed in our room! I did tell her this tank was to small and it really needs to be in a 90gal ;) I got the LFS guy working on her as well.

The rest of the week was spent fixing various items around the house, yard work, helping my father-inlaw setup his 125gal tank for a reef!

Oh well back to the grind now!

Aquaman--An eel in the bedroom? Your wife is a lot more tolerant than mine would be. I think she would not get much sleep.
Goby--what kind of bike? I love motorcycles, currently without one. Puts the fun back into driving again. :)

The cabin pics look great - it's been a while since I've been to a mountain cabin on a lake (~15 years). I'm ready to go!

This 4th was special because I got to go to downtown DC to see the fireworks! Now I wouldn't ordinarily have gone because I hate huge crowds and traffic jams, but my brother-in-law is in the Army and got us into their area by the capitol. We were 50' away from four 105mm Howitzers (sp?)!

But the best part was leaving. With 1/2 million people there it is usually the worst part of any large event. However - he got us into the police escort for the cannons. We were cruising through packed city streets, through red lights and everything. It was almost like being in a presidential motorcade! Still took us 45 mins to get to the beltway though. I can't complain.

Larry, She wanted this eel not me!!! She insisted that it be on the wall at the end of the bed so she could watch him in the evening! Hey what the heck anything to get her interested.

larry,

its a yamaha Road Star... here's a pic

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/01motorsports/01mcy/01_mcy_images/500/01rs1_1_500.jpg

This is the biggest V-twin engine ever mass produced ;) It's engine is as big as some compact cars :) I got a black one, and its SUCH a sweet ride. Jenny and I have been riding for hours every day.

Aqua,

actually, we were out of town... jenny came home friday night (after we talked) and we grabbed some clothes and took off for a few days. I'm way sorry. I totally forgot about it till I got to work wednesday morning, and then I couldnt find the number. If you call informaiton, just ask for Marcona Ocean Industires in ft.myers. when you call ask to talk to the plant supervisor "joe" and tell him that you want to get it for your bushes ;)

fishwish,

while it's no harley, it is one hell of a ride! She glides with a growl that's for sure!!! that big engine is so torque filled it's scarry ;) anyways, seems like kuryaykn is even making a hypercharger mount for it, and some others have started with the aftermarket parts for it too. Very well may be the next harley ;) with it being belt driven, using a mikuni carb, etc... it's built well, and rides strong!

I can only hope that the aftermarket will be as strong for my bike as yours is....

I love the way your ride looks ;)
