Clams and Snails

I have a squamosa clam and periodically an Astrea snail attaches itself to the clams shell. When this happens the clam doesn't open as much. I keep knocking the snail off, but it comes back. Is this normal? Should I get rid of the snail?

Leave it be, it's eating algae. The clam will be fine.
