Well the days are in the 90's and pretty soon the nights will not give us much relief..

What does everyone do to help keep there reefs cool?

I will start with fans one on the sump and if needed one over the display tank... but not sure what I will do during the monsoons

I have a fan on my sump and one on my fuge and then I run a 1/2hp CSL chiller.

Used to use a fan alone, now just a chiller. This monsoon I am thinking about a fan on timer with MH's to help chiller. Anybody see any small clip-on fans this year? Used to have them at Home Depot, they said they didn't think they would get them this year. John.

MY heat pump is very effeciant. I just bump it up a notch. The tank stays the same around 78-79F. Which is a feat not easily accomplished in a 16 gal. Bowfront.

I actually run the lights at night and turn them off during the day..That lowers my Temp in the tank during the summer.

I got two 3" fans (ebay) under my hood to keep the heat out of there when the lights are on and a chiller.

Great, Liz will get a couple tomorrow, Thanks Tom. PM'd a firefighter here in Tucson on the FRAG forum, wanted frags, told about meeting. This is going better then I'ld hoped. John

I ran both fans all night and it actually cooled the tank to much.. So I turned one off I will see the temp tomorrow when I get back home...

I put one above the dis tank and one under the hood.. I think for now just the one under the hood will do..

Got a 7" at Target, $7.98, good solid clamp, 2 speed. Hooked it on timer that turns second MH unit, holds temp rock solid so far. If it goes up as our temps rise, will hook second one up to first on MH timer. That should keep my chiller run times to a minimum.

I had my fan running 24hrs.. that was too much I will have to hook it up to the light timer.. and boy did it ever increase my evaporation I had to add 10 gal of water on one week..

I was woke last night to this slurping sound...just my luck I was out of water..

Yea, I upped my make up tank for the 54 to a 26 gal (it was a 3gal). That should go a week or two. Well the temp is 80 now and the chiller never came on today (set At 81), it came on several times yesterday. Good $7.98 spent. John
