I'll bring some cultured phyto (Nannochloropsis) - let me know if you want some. It will last for 6 months in the fridge, but has the best nutritional value if used within two weeks.

I'm also going to be culturing rotifers starting next month, and will offer both for sale or frag trades. Club members get first priority. ;)

In the coming months, depending on sales, I may make this an 'official' business and offer more varieties of algae and zooplankton. Your input is appreciated, too!

No charge for this batch - just need some good recommendations. I just checked it last night, and it's just about done - should be peaked for Sunday.

Phytoplankton is the beginning of the food chain in all reefs - it is eaten be filterfeeders and corals, as well as feeding rotifers, artemia, copepods, etc.. DT's is great stuff, but really expensive to ship (about the same as corals) and phyto nutritional value decrease after about 7-10 days.

do you just feed it like your other food?
I'd be interested in some of both

You dose (on average) half a cup once or twice a week, depending on the size of the tank and the occupants. It's an absolute necessity for dendro/scleronepthya and clams.

What's this in Leona Terms? (dendro/scleronepthya and clams)

Umm, not photosynthetic corals and young clams (meaning less than 5 years old because their mantle isn't big enough for them to be totally photosynthetic)

There is research also to suggest that all corals can consume phytoplankton as well, limiting the need for excessive lights, etc..)

=)

Any comments? I know its not much to start with. I'm looking at getting some bottles so I don't have to use the baggies.

I put mine in a 8oz baby bottle that I wasn't using anymore and used one of the blue baby juice tops fit perfectly. I told everyone that anything with blue tops it's for the fish.

I'll take whatever bottles anyone has - I'm looking at purchasing a case of them. Apparently there are a lot of lurkers on the forum who are interested in buying from me, so it looks like everything is a go.

The wife is happy because we'll be making some money - i didn't tell her I'm just going to use it to buy more corals, he he he. First thing I'm getting is a maxima clam.

sneaky sneaky. Well wright now we are still using our baby bottles. BUT!!

Kmart,Walmart, Dollar Store has them just plain bottles. I will take a picture. Kmart or walmart they are usally 4.00 for 3 clear evenflo 8oz baby bottles. those would come with the white caps or you could change them for the juice caps. I have plenty of them.
The pictures I am putting on if you would like to use them you can if you need me to take different ones so you can use NO prob.

You can always add the price of the bottles to the price you sell the Phyto for.

Bottles are on the way...

Prices will be $10 for 32oz. bottle (app. 1000mL) I still have enough for one more bottle this week. Bottles right now are 1L, so you get a 1.5 oz bonus!

Other arrangements can be made if you want to buy in larger quantities..
